I pretty routinely use Task Rabbit to get things done, from repairs to shopping to editing blog entries. Might we worth a look. Pay isn't fantastic, but it's SUPER flexible.

A friend of mine in a similar situation worked for Demand Media Studios for a while, but I hear it can be very annoying work, and it doesn't pay well AFAIK. Still, as a last-resort option, it's there, I guess. I've never tried, it's US/UK/Canada only.

hey, you don't know me, but we have a bunch of friends in common (one of whom pointed me here) and I've seen you at Wiscon and such. My company does 5-15 hour/week work from home, we're a bit backlogged at hiring but it's good steady work that is entirely set your own hours within that range, just need a web browser, and I think at least one person on your flist may work for us. :) I'm this username at gmail if you'd like to hear about it.
