Excerpt from an article in the newspaper Front Line:

Sources Say: Prominent Mutant Visited Magneto Prior to Escape
Speculation Regarding Stark's Involvement Rages

Story by Sally Floyd

Mere hours after SHIELD Director and Mighty Avenger Anthony "Iron Man" Stark blamed Freedom Force for the daring prison break committed by the man known as Magneto, Front Line received information from government sources that seems to undermine his story.

Confidential interviews with individuals close to the action provided independent confirmation that the controversial X-Corporation Leader, Jean Summers Grey, visited Magneto's Nevada prison at least once during the short time he was in custody. A somewhat enigmatic figure in the history of the Xavier Corporation, Grey's close personal relationship with Stark has been well-documented.

It is unknown at this time how Grey's visit was arranged. However, sources confess that the connection is troubling. "We're being asked to believe that Tony Stark's [close friend] just happened to waltz into a secret government facility, and he didn’t know about it?"

No direct connection between Grey's visit and the breakout has been established at this time. However, Magneto's relationship with the X-Men, and their founder, Charles Xavier, has been convoluted and complex over the last several decades. At times, he has been considered an enemy of the X-Men; at others, a leader. At least two prominent members of Magneto's "Brotherhood of Evil Mutants" are former students of the Xavier School: lieutenant Anna "Rogue" Darkholme, and John "Pyro" Allerdyce, the man who famously earned a pardon in exchange for turning Magneto over to Freedom Force.

Neither Stark nor the Xavier Institute could be reached for comment.
