I find the most of the time I go over 42 it is thanks to a combination of french etymology and archaic words I picked up role-playing. What resources are you tapping?

probably similar stuff. Sometimes I just am very sure and go with the word, so it's coming from somewhere, I just dunno where.

I played that a while ago. I hovered around 46-47 and made it up to 50 several times. French, Latin and Greek.

Heh, don't worry. That's all my degrees are good for - doing well in online vocabulary games :D

By the way, I'm pretty busy, but if you particularly want me to read your thesis, I can. Not sure I'll be able to follow a lot of it, though!

Went to 1000 grains to make sure I'd reached asymptotic behaviour. Top score was 48, and DC level was about 47 for the last stretch. This was mostly achieved by exploiting the multiple-choice nature of the test and clever etymological guessing.
