Have you ever thought about offering a songwriting workshop at a con? That might draw in people who don't play instruments and build the filk base.

We actually will have one of those - hopefully people will come. But if not, it's a chance to try to write a song in an hour. Which is always an interesting challenge.

To be completely fair and honest, two people said straight out that as much as they would love to come, it just wasn't going to work out for (x reason).

It's the 5 or 6 people who sounded really excited, positive, "yeah, I really want to be there, this will be great!" in email that I would have appreciated a "Hey, something came up," or even a "Sorry, it's just not going to work out for me" so I *knew* but... well.

I understand that life gets busy and things off people's plates. I just feel very bitter about it.

The reason I commented is that I just went through running Pi-Con's first filk track. Unfortunately attendance at the con was low due to Hurricane Irene, In spite of over 200 "memberships" we had less than 100 people there at any one time. Even Heather Dale's Concert only had 25 people in the audience.

Not that long ago no one wanted to come to Norwescon either. That too was an uphill struggle. *hugs again* I would be there if I could.

Yeah, you know, I was thinking about you - I remember you going through endless frustration trying to get a filk track going at Norwescon.

I wish you could make it - that would be fun! But we'll get to hang out at OVFF at least!
