I enjoy making icons for the challenges here, but as a mod of a couple of stamping communities I can totally understand the frustration in putting all your effort into a place and then getting nothing in return. I think if we ease back into it, we could get a decent amount of people to participate again, but LJ as a whole has dropped considerably and there really isn't that big of a draw to it anymore. Which makes me sad.

LJ has always been a place that I would care about for several months, then out of the blue, lose all interest in it. With other sites that offer so much more booming, it's easy to see that LJ is falling behind. LJ is a leader in what they do, but at the end of the day, it's just a blog site really, which is why it's hard for communities to develop. :/

Yeah, the "0 comments" notice on a entry post is the stuff of nightmares for mods. XD I know it's bad to mod a community when your heart's not in it, but I do so love SH, and I do enjoy seeing the icons people come up with, and that in itself is sometimes worth it. :] Maybe if we did more than icons? I dunno... but I do think both easing back into SHC and altering things a bit will help.

The release of Downpour next month should really help boost peoples interest in the series again, too!

I'm here and still watching, but I lack in the skills to make icons, so I'm not really a participant in that sense.

As you said above, you could try expanding beyond icon-making, but I'm afraid that would just make more work for you.

I do really hope the community doesn't die; I love SH, and most fandom spaces for it seem to have gone inactive. However, I completely sympathize with you not having the drive to keep it going, especially without much community participation. Not sure how to remedy that, though. :/

And I understand those feelings when you do not get feedback on your work, but maybe people still appear? Maybe if we did more than icons, really? I don't know yet what it can be but if we think all together, probably we`ll think up something.

I thought that people were participating? It wasn't particularly high, but still... Anyway. I do want this community to stay going, and I think it's worth trying to keep.
