Traditional LIMS: Let's say there are 10 participants. This means there will be be 9 rounds. Each round, a theme will be given, and then all submissions will be voted on. The submission that receives the least amount of votes falls to last place, and its icon maker is eliminated from the LIMS.
Non-Traditional LIMS: 10 participants, and as many rounds as we want. Each round, a theme is given, and everyone votes. The points are added up and instead of eliminating people from round to round, everyone stays in until the end, and the icon maker with the most points at the end is the winner.
:} Hope that helps. I've only observed traditional LIMS because I perferred to participate in non-traditional ones. I'm not a good enough icon-maker to make it all the way to the end, so the points system helps me.
