Oh, this is very nice. Great choice of characters, lovely conversation between Novak and Caldwell, and terrific characterization of him commanding his ship, his home.

The description of the scene here blends seamlessly with the glimpses of the characters. I especially like the relationship between Caldwell and Novak. Excellent. I also love that you brought up the dilemma of the math in battle: which bodies are important enough to protect with many more bodies?

Thank you so much. Caldwell changed a lot during the seasons, but I often wondered what he thought about putting his entire crew on the line so often for the team.
