Oh my God, Gary? The constellation Bugs Bunny? This is exactly why I'm afraid of humans actually establishing a serious presence in outer space. *g*
I loved John's nervousness around the blue pterodactyls, and Rodney's completely unexpected ability at constellation naming, which I think works very well - it reminded me of a line I once read in someone else's story (which I will now have to look up) in which John wonders about whether the important part to Rodney was the astro, rather than the physics.
And I liked the weary feel of the piece - the somewhat stilted speech and languid actions.
Ooh, that's a good line... I'm not sure Rodney would be much for constellation-naming in any normal situation; for one thing, when does he ever sit still and look at something that isn't a computer screen? When could he? And he'd probably think it too frivolous. But, if something did get him to stare at the stars (like being too tired to pay sufficient attention to anything else)... Thank you so much! I'm so very glad it worked.
I really liked this piece. To me, this is exactly the kind of conversation John and Rodney would have, but we never really get to see because it doesn't fit into the plots of the show.
Oh, thank you! I'm so glad it seemed in-character; I was worried I might not have gotten a handle on them yet (though god knows I've read enough fics to manage it...).
Oh, this was a fun conversation between the two of them. :) Rodney's list of everything he clearly has to do is hilarious, and the moon names are great. Wonderful job on this!
