Title: Lightning Author: Kylie Lee (kylielee1000) Length: ~1,600 words Pairing: Ronon Dex/John Sheppard Rating: R Summary: The next day, the world thought he looked the same.
I'm going for short because...flashfic! I haven't written for so long, it's all rusty-like. I thought something small, with a single emotional impact, would be just the thing to get me going again. Thanks for the note!
ii can't believe you didn't tell me you were writing this!!!!
what a cool surprise :-)
i love that feeling of thinking others can tell that something has chsanged when it seems so phenomenal to you and the juxtaposition between present and past and the parenhetical sense memories...
i love especially Then there wasn't the memory of touch but rather touch itself which besutifully collapses and distinguishes memory/fantasy from reality...
yes, that's what felt so real...i mean, it's been a while, but i remember this total barrier between those who had and those who hadn't and the way it wasn't even the experience itself but my own awareness of having crossed this supposed line...asnd you really get that in ronon, the actual experience and the perceived importance...and then he also subverts this when thinking about his night with sheppard, both special and yet like many other couples spending a night together....
I was also thinking, weirdly, about VM when I wrote this: the way she was raped but didn't remember who did it. Yet something horrible had happened to her and no one could tell. Shouldn't something that huge be marked on your body? That kind of invasion? That sense of overwhelmingness (and, for VM herself, outrage) is what I was trying to capture.
This had to be a Ronon fic because of the whole body thing. He's not all that verbal or articulate (I've said this in other comments too), so I think he thinks of things through his body.

That's because I wasn't! I wrote it in two hours. I was just pleased that the virgin challenge was still open.
And that's the thing about losing your virginity: nobody can tell. You look the same. But it's all so different.
