Prompting is now open!

Mar 24, 2008 12:40

The sg1friendathon officially opens today! Prompts may be submitted through March 31. Everyone may submit prompts, even if they don't intend to take place in the ficathon. Multiple prompts are not only allowed, but encouraged. Please spread the word - we want as many prompts as possible!

Prompts should include, at a mimimum, the names of at least two characters. In addition, offer a frame for the prompt: an episode, a quote, an icon or picture (worksafe only!), a line of dialogue, a few lines of lyrics, and so on. You may be as vague or specific as you like, but remember that you have no control over who (if anyone) will choose your prompt or how that person will choose to interpret it.

Don't forget that sg1friendathon is a gen ficathon, so no pairings are allowed in the prompts. Peripheral canon pairings will be permitted, as explained in the story submissions post, but they may not be included in the prompt.

You may not request character bashing of any kind. Writers may not bash characters, either. If you don't like Sam or Daniel or Vala or Landry, then don't choose a prompt that features that character, and don't include him or her in your fic.

Some random prompt examples:
Jack and Daniel. Role reversal off-world: Jack wants to negotiate, Daniel wants to shoot first and ask questions later.
Bra'tac and Teal'c, post Changeling. "And miles to go before I sleep."
Sam, Jack, and Teal'c. After Meridian. Learning to cope.
Sam and Vala. The women amused by the boys.
Janet and Hammond. [html code for icon/picture]
Elizabeth Weir and Daniel, New Order. "All is flux and nothing stays still."
Sam and Jack, trapped on the mothership in Descent. "I laugh in the face of danger, then I hide until it goes away."
Jacob and George, pre-series. An encounter from when "the Air Force really was this country's first line of defense."

Since SG-1 fandom goes right round the world, please be courteous and warn for spoilers if your prompt is for S10 or Ark of Truth.

At this time, the sg1friendathon does not include SGA. Rodney McKay in 48 Hours or Redemption is fair game, as is Elizabeth Weir in Lost City/New Order and (S10 spoiler!) SG-1/SGA crossover prompts from Pegasus Project. Prompts for S4 of SGA, however, are not.

Prompts are screened. If you have any questions, leave a comment here.
