Signups for Allies Alphabet Soup
We'll be celebrating SG-1 Gen Fic Day on February 18th, complete with Allies Alphabet Soup!
For this fifteenth Soup, we will again have an ensemble cast: any character who is an ally of the SGC, whether onworld or offworld, and is not the subject of a previous Alphabet Soup. That means you can write about the Tok'ra or the Jaffa, but don't focus on Jacob or Bra'tac; similarly, you can write about Kelowna/Langara, but don't feature Jonas Quinn. It does mean you can write about any canon ally, from the people at the Land of Light to the Ancients, who have helped the SGC in any way. You may also use original characters within the context of canon - for example, using the POV of the dialogue-less black woman among the Tollan in Enigma, or creating an ADC for Chekov.
This is how it works: the letters of the alphabet are available on a first come, first served basis. Comment and claim a letter - one letter per author only. I'll strike them out as they're claimed, but as long as you made your request first, the letter is yours. You don't need to specify the character you intend to write about, although you're certainly welcome to do so! By making a claim, you are committing yourself to writing at least 100 words of gen fic by February 18th.
There are several prompts offered as suggestions below, but none of them are obligatory. You may use any of them or none of them, as you please. They're just to help inspire authors with possible ideas. Claim a letter and let your imagination take you wherever it will!
On February 18th, comment with your fic in the SG-1 Gen Fic Day post, using the title as the subject of your comment (D is for Diplomacy, S is for Skarra, F is for Feasting, or whatever). Send me a copy by e-mail as well. When all the letters have been submitted, I'll collate all the ficlets in alphabetical order and post them together as a complete anthology. The anthology on LJ is usually abridged due to posting contraints, with links to the remaining stories at the authors' individual journals; the DW version is complete and unabridged.

There are only four rules: your fic must be at least 100 words, although there is no maximum limit; it must be about a person/group/planet who is allied with the SGC, with a canonical origin; the fic must be canon compliant, although it does not have to reference canon specifically; and it should be gen. This is part of SG-1 Gen Fic Day, after all. :)
Please bear in mind that while SG-1 or other previous Soup subjects may be featured in your story, the focus of the fic should be about their allies and not them. They've already had their time in the spotlight! Also, an author is welcome to mention canon relationships - for example, Skarra is planning to get married in Full Circle, and Teal'c/Ishta is certainly canonical. But no romance, please, and no AUs or alternate timelines. If in doubt, feel free to ask.
