KABOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!

What's that sound, you ask?

Why, it's 28 years of nearly unfettered Reaganomics crashing and burning. And the funny thing is, the GOP (God Oil Party) has the nerve to talk about Democrats wanting to socialize medicine.  About how THAT would ruin our pristine free market medical system.  (Well, free market unless you happen to be a senator or ( Read more... )

My God....has this whole society lost its collective mind? I think the sheer size and scope of this whole bailout has people paralyzed. I wish the news would put up a big graphic showing just how BIG $1 trillion is....$1,000,000,000,000.

I nearly LOST it today when I was watching "Hardball with Chris Matthews" and I heard Rep Mike Pence (R-IN) discussing privatizing Social Security with Rep Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-FL). He said, and I quote, "most Americans, given the choice between investing in America and investing in the federal government..." Is he smoking CRACK??? Who does he think the federal government is??? Russia? China? I'm sick and tired of people who HATE the government being IN it.

Regi, as usual, you hit the nail right on the head.

I really hope most Americans are asking these same questions.

Sadly, I know the questions aren't going to be asked by reporters in the White House press briefings or on public affairs programs or in press scrums with the President or the presidential candidates.

I am just stunned at the insanity in Washington now, especially when I read that bizarre "waiver of blame and exclusion of oversight" provision in the proposed bailout.

Are there any Americans with functioning brain cells who don't think that provision is insane?

This stuff is just beyond my most bizarre imagination.

Robert....I just had the most BIZZARE out-of-body experience. I'm sitting in the car, listening to NPR, about to go into the market when an interview with Newt Gingrich came on the air. You can imagine my HORROR when I heard him echo the exact same concerns I had. OH MY GOD! THE WORLD IS UPSIDE DOWN! I'm on the same page as NEWT GINGRICH! The horror! THE HORROR!! :-)

And yeah, you're right...the sheer insanity is stunning. I realize people are busy with their private lives, but is ANYBODY paying attention to this???

How do you know you don't own your own country? tkn1114 September 23 2008, 06:09:59 UTC
when there's not a damn thing you can really do about it. And there isn't. We don't own our own country. But no despair. It's coming out of our pocket painlessly, like late fees quietly embedded in your monthly statement: taxes.

This is the 2nd blog on my friends list that posts about this topic. Bravo!

T, this is sooooo frustrating. I feel like people should be literally 'out in the streets' on this one. But when they've already suffered through a pre-emptive war of choice, the sanctioning of torture in our names, the destruction of an American city (New Orleans), it's just difficult to fathom exactly when ENOUGH'S ENOUGH! The public-at-large seems paralyzed.

WHen is enough enough? When the carrot of the lie that is the American Dream no longer dangles in front of our many eyes. When the lot of us wake up and realize that it has long been a mirage to which we keep running to, but many of us never arrive.

In other words, not any time soon.

self-correction: this is the 3rd blog on my friends list I see this topic. Still too few.
