It's no accident that McCain and Palin are harping about groups like ACORN as they continue to slide in the polls. For John McCain to assert that ACORN is "now on the verge of maybe perpetrating one of the greatest frauds in voter history in this country, maybe destroying the fabric of democracy" is as hatefully racist as it is patently false. This is an excellent montage of remarks by Colin Powell and other news footage that explain the rationale behind Gen Powell's endorsement earlier today of Barack Obama. While conventional wisdom says that most endorsements don't really matter in the final analysis, I suspect this one may be different. Only time will tell.
