If you suss out what postage/customs duty (though i think duty doesn't apply if you say it's a gift) is to Australia, I might be interested in getting some international mystery stuff.

As long as the value is listed under a certain amount, you are correct. For reference,flatrate small Priority boxes to Australia (and under 4 pounds) are $12.95, medium ones (up to 20 pounds) are $41.95, and large ones (still only 20 pounds though) are $53.95. Priority International that aren't flatrate depend on the weight, and so does First Class.
