Redcoats & Convicts (in Sydney)

I was a smidgen amused that while some costume peeps were Under The Redcoats in Colonial Williamsburg USA, I was in the convict ranks being guarded by Redcoats in Sydney AU.

It was fun, and i was dead impressed that we got fed too - complete with punch to toast the Governor. My costume was cool, though I also had a wool cloak with me as it's mid-winter here. Mid-winter by aussie standards ;)

It was more fun than I was expecting :D

though I was a bit squinty by the time I got my photo taken cos I'd been hemming a napkin without the benefit of my modern specs. If I'm going to do this often enough I'll need to get less modern frames.

It was much more fun than attending as a visitor as I did the previous 2 years.

Thank you :) I have some more tufted cotton to make another dress to go under the open robe. It's in a pumpkin-peach colour, and I'll use the same bodice as the open robe so that it stays well away from my face.

I do find it funny that UTR was happening at the same time. Your event looks/sounds like it would of been great fun!

It was, though I wish it was a larger event like UTR, still it's better than what was around not even 5 years ago ie nothing.
