Are you going for a Einbauküche? Because if not: I bought all my kitchen cabinets used and paid 50€ for the whole lot, instead of going to Ikea and paying 300€ for it... But that only works if you have a free-standing kitchen and like mis-matched things (which I do, and I love my kitchen :D)

Furchtbar hässlich in meinen Augen.

Thanks hun, and no, in Germany it is custom that the new owner brings their own kitchen, although sometimes there are already kitchens in flats and then you have to pay for extra to use them.

I'm glad you didn't die in your very dangerous flat! Happy moving:) Interesting cultural difference, this kitchen thing.

Hah! The vote is still out. Two more weeks, roughly and then we'll see. The flickering headlights and finicky fridge are scary, now that we know the reason is not our choice of product (rather cheapish) but the faulty electric power lines. Grrr.

Yeah, it is. Never thought about it being different in other countries. Then, again when does oneself ponder kitchens? ;P An advantage is that you always have the option of having your own taste in kitchen in your flat. No ugly fronts and problems with the landlord if you want to change something. Disadvantage: the cost. Ah, well.
