What browser were you using? Most of them, when you sign in on a new computer, will have your bookmarks waiting. I kind of dread anyone using my computer at work for that reason. My Chrome bookmarks are... something.
Honestly, Windows Defender that comes with the newer versions of Windows is pretty good. I also use the free version of Malwarebytes on my computer.
Hmm... do you have a gmail email? If not, I'd make a Google account so you can save everything for next time.
Yes, it is.
Go to your Windows icon (bottom left hand corner) and scroll almost all the way to the bottom. You'll see Windows Security. Click on that and it'll open a window with a bunch of options. Virus and Threat Protection should be the first box.
I do have a gmail email, but it only shows the one bookmark I have currently made. This is the part where I repeat how much technology and I despise each other.
It's okay. I can recreate what I need.
Thanks so much for the virus help. Will do that right now.
When I set up my parent's laptop, it had asked for a PIN. I made it the same as their password and it took it- I figured the less they needed to remember the better.
When I got to that point it wouldn't let me type. I knew it wasn't the keyboard because I had already typed in my wifi password on a previous page. It turned out that setting up wifi when the setup tells you to set up wifi was the wrong move. I had to turn off the router so the internet wasn't working in order to avoid that step, or else I'd be just stuck there unable to type but also unable to move forward or backward. So frustrating! I felt like a superstar when it finally worked.

Is Windows Defender already pre-loaded? This computer has Windows 10. I will look up Malwarebytes. Thanks!
