So, this year I got a tax refund. I don't even know. I was absolutely certain that I would have to pay because of being technically self-employed now, but my brother-in-law equally insisted that I would get money back. And lo and behold, he was right. EEEE

Thanks! I can't believe that lj might completely disappear in the coming days. There are so many fics that were only ever posted on lj that I'll miss terribly if they just vanish overnight.

I know! I've read a few things saying that it won't happen like that, but I am just not sure. There's already so many fics missing that to lose even more would be horrible. If you know of some absolute favourites you should save them to your hard drive so you'll have them, at least.

WOOHOO! I got my first tax refund ever last year and that's exactly what I did - I bought a new laptop. :D Enjoy it when it gets there! And if you know anyone with a backup drive, that might be an easier route than emailing everything to yourself.

I do not even know what a backup drive is. LOL But there's only Amy downstairs and she is less computer literate than me, so I'm sure that whatever it is, she doesn't have it. LOL

Yes, it is!

It's a hard drive that you can plug into your computer and drag things off your computer onto it to save.

Good luck with the import - that is such good news. Yes, I'm pretty sure you can still post and comment while the import is ongoing.

Stupid question but do you know if I can turn off my computer or will that affect the import? (Since it's an internal LJ to DW thing, I just have no clue.)

Yes, you can shut your computer down. Mine lost internet this morning while I was importing and so I rebooted, and the process was still going on. Since then I've gotten notification that my entries (on a community I run) had imported. Waiting on the comments now.

You're welcome. Hopefully it goes through. My entries went fairly quickly but comments took a few hours. Pretty sure you can continue to use it while the import is going on but right now I probably wouldn't want to chance it.
