Day One of learning to structure my days went well! I went to bed early and got up at 8am. Did some reading, job hunting, and a couple fun things and had it all done early. Job hunting is the pits. (That's probably one of the reasons we stay in jobs so long.) But even though there were a large number of people applying for those jobs, maybe you'll be the one with the best fit.

Have you tried working for a temporary service? I've done it in the past and had some success in finding long-term work that way. Not real great on the benefit front, but it is income and you'll get to try out a place to see if it's a good fit for you (and vice-versa).

Good luck!

That is TOTALLY why we stay in jobs for so long. Ugh.

I haven't used a temp agency yet. I have a list of "places I will apply if what I'm doing now doesn't pan out" which includes a couple of call centres, a candy factory, and 2 temp agencies that I used to deal with at my old job. I'm trying to remember that there is no great rush and I don't have to take a crappy job. It's just difficult when I am not used to being unemployed.
