Catch Up

How is it already February 11th? I feel like I've been soooo busy, when really I've kinda just been a giant slackmonster. Well, and also dealing with a bad cold (that I just got over in time to get another one) and horrible sinus problems (ongoing) and mainlining True Blood like I'm a junkie needing a V-juice fix ( Read more... )

I must start True Blood again. I have the disks and I have watched season 1 more than once but I get sidetracked so easily. This time I must remain focused....

Definitely! I really enjoy arc-based shows and each season has a definite arc that I enjoy, as well as an ongoing arc that stretches across the seasons. The vamp stuff is definitely my favourite, though.

I agree with your comments on SPN, and I am too looking forward to 7.17. Having said that, last night's ep was so much fun!! Boys bonding and all kinds of brotherly goodness, and oh, my, poor awesome Sammy! It was so easy to love him last night.

I'm sorry I disagree about PR All Stars. How much do I hate Michael? SO. MUCH. I did like his coat thing this week, tho. I liked Jerrell's better, but yeah, he totally should have gone home the week before and would have if Anthony had followed the challenge parameters - too bad, since Anthony's outfit that week was awesome. I did like Austin's pants this week for the model (I can't wear high waists because I have a high waist so it looks like those pants come up to my boobs but thought they worked on the long abdomen types), and thought that they beat Kenley's repetitive same-o one piece. I actually liked Mondo's outfit more than Mila's, which was Bo. Ring. But the colors were much better than Rami, who so did not deserve to get kicked out before any of the women, but that green shirt was ( ... )

This week's SPN was the best of the season by far, IMO. I hadn't paid attention to the credits so about fifteen minutes in I was like, ... is this Edlund? This must be Edlund! ... only to discover that nope, it wasn't. Still, eps like this make me remember why I loved the show. More please ( ... )

Hi! I hope you can finally get past all the cold and sinus crap.

I like Project Runway All Stars better than the last season of PR. I like when they focus more on the designs and results than the drama and cattiness.

HI. *hugs* Oh man, me too. I am sniffin' nasal spray like it's going out of style, heh.

I'm also enjoying that there's so far been no crazy twists. No "surprise, now you have to make a second outfit!" and no team challenges. Just the designers and their inspiration and some cool outfits.

Who do you want to win?

Like josieb1, I use Calibre to manage my ebooks. It is hugely flexible and if you really want a management system, it's awesome. If all you want to do is convert files, there are a couple of other programs that you might prefer.

All that said, I wrote out a long-ass, step-by-step tutorial awhile back for someone on getithere about how to convert either Word fics to .mobi. I'd be happy to forward it to you if you'd like.

Also! On AO3 and a few other archives, there are options to download each fic as a mobi or epub file which is awesome. At AO3 the download link is in the top right-hand corner if I remember right.

Ohhhh, I would LOVE IT if you could forward me the tutorial. Thank you so much!!

I have seen that download link on A03 and never knew what it was for!! Thank you also so much for pointing that out, that is soooo cool and would make it super easy to DL the long fics that I never get the chance to read onto the kindle and then I could read them at work.

OMG I so have to order the kindle right freakin' now.

Happy to send!

The not-awesome thing about some of the AO3 DL options is if it's a long fic, I don't think there is a way to glom all the chapters together if they weren't posted together in the first place. If that makes sense.

You know how on some archives a fic is posted and subsequent chaps are posted to the original post and there's a "read/print whole story" option? A lot of chaptered fics on AO3 are posted as individual chapters rather than linking together within the story. It's been awhile since I've been there; that mighta been a weirdness of earlier days, too. If you run into that type of fic, just be aware you'll have multiple entries on your Kindle for taht fic. I'd prolly copy and paste into Word and convert for a complete fic.

I think I've got all your fics saved from the Geocities meltdown. Any objection if I someday make them all mobi files and post to the getithere 4shared download page?

Got the emails and have read through them all, thank you SO much. It does seem reasonably simple. I am the type of person who learns by doing, so I think once I have your instructions printed out AND have the program and the kindle in front of me... I should be okay. Should totally being the operative word here. In other words: expect questions. HEE.

*hugs*

YEEK. The vast majority of them are on A03 already. I only didn't re-post some of the very old horrible ones (though I did post other really old horrible ones, so I really can't even say what kind of weird criteria I was using to determine horribleness, heh.) Anyway, I don't think it would hurt to have everything up for DL. :)

I'm so with you on Supernatural. My daughter has stopped watching completely, and I forgot it was even on the last two weeks. But Amy heard good things about the last ep and with your comments I think we'll catch that one up.

Yes, Kenley's romper...really?

Your daughter is not the first person I've heard that has given up completely this season. It's awful, too, because there are people that were hard-core fans that have just thrown up their hands over the mess of this season. I think if I did not know that Cas was coming back I'd be one of them. The good thing is all the eps you've missed have just been stupid standalones so you can skip 'em entirely and just watch the latest good one!

What woman would EVER wear a one-piece short-short polka dot ROMPER? *shakes head*
