Yeah, see, I totally agree. This storyline was my runner-up. I thought Ethan totally made sense in terms of who Justin was and his feelings and how he'd fight for space within and against of Brian's presumptions, and try to find an alternative to Brian to fulfill what he wanted for himself. This storyline also made really clear to me that for Brian, Justin was it.
I remember having endless conversations with twistinside82 in which she advocated for Justin and went through all the many reasons why this *made sense* for Justin, and they'd always end with me saying, "BUT BRIAN..." because the ONLY thing that mattered to me then (and now, let's be honest) was Brian. And I mostly just wanted to hit Justin about the head and shoulders. LOL
It was a brilliant storyline and it is one which had me on tenderhooks. I wanted to tape all the episodes and then watch all of them one after another so that I could get to the part when Ethan was gone and the boys were back where they were meant to be. I think that I mentioned in a comment to a previous entry that what kept me going through this arc were the flashbacks of Brian and Justin together. Loved it and hated it.
God yes. It was absolute TORTURE but at the same time it just solidified HOW MUCH Brian loved Justin, and since it was all about Brian to me that was just.. a lot of woobie goodness.
