Hi. I've been busy.

Reno 2009 is progressing very well! A little over a week ago my sister Margie schlepped me all over in the search for the elusive Red Sofa. After dealing with one clerk who clearly only had six working brain cells, we made our way to another store (and back, and then back again) and I was finally able to purchase the Red Sofa Of My Dreams.

Now your kitchen....all I can say is WOW!!! what a transformation! It looks wonderful,so cherry and bright, you did an amazing job! Love the pride magnet on your fridge :)

I can't wait to see what else you come up with :)

I'm so pleased with the sofa. I had my first sofa (a dark blue with small gold flowers monstrosity) for about 17 years. My current one I got as a cheap stop-gap only because the monstrosity was falling apart. So this is really the first sofa that I love. :)

Thanks so much for the WOW! That really made me feel good. My watchword for this reno is "vibrant". Hee!

If you have more wallpaper/border to come down I have a way to make it easier. My mom works in a home improvement store, and whenever she gets a bug in her ass we wallpaper something. I'm always nominated to take down the old stuff first, which I hate. I'm slightly OCD so I lose my mind while doing it. If you peal off the paper and the backing stays behind just spray it with Diff and let it sit a few minutes. It will scrape off really easily with a putty knife. Much less picking at it and bitching that way! Most hardware or home improvement stores will carry Diff.

Luckily all I had was the cow border. But thanks!

Thanks. It's certainly going to stand out by the yellow wall. :)

What a great post! I smiled all the way through it.

I loved the picture of you on the red sofa...you look like the cat who ate the canary. I LOVE the couch, too. John and Pam have a red sofa and the color just works so well.

The change in your kitchen is fabulous. That yellow will perk you up during those long, dark winter months. (Wasn't it worth the disruption?) And I had to smile at the cow border. It was actually kinda cute!

Omigod, I've got to read your cat book. I'm going to check on amazon.com because when I'm done, I know my daughter-in-law will want to read it too. She just got her first cat...her 23-year-old son brought it home...and she is totally in love. Lauri does golden retriever rescue, and they have two goldens, but that cat has carved out a big spot in her heart. FanSee

Awww, thank you. I'm feeling so much better overall these days.

I am pretty pleased about that sofa. :D I've wanted a red one for sooooooo long. I'm waiting for the primer in the living room to dry -- then I'm moving the yellow into there as well. I will either be cheered by this apartment or feel like I'm living in a giant lemon. ;)

There is a Dewey 'fan club' on Facebook as well. There's pictures of him on the Spencer Library website too. :)
