Do you have a large round brush? That's what is usually used to recreate those lovely curls. Also, if you shampoo when you have some time to let it dry naturally you can put in some medium sized velcro curlers and just brush it out when it's dry. That will give it bounce and curl.
You are wise with the styling suggestions. I'm planning to head out to the mall in the morning if I'm not too tired (there may be a bus strike, so this is probably the last chance I'll have to get to that mall!), so I'll take a look for curlers!
