Okay. So this is totally not working. So I went online today to check for painting tips when using red paints, and find a ton of stuff like "even professional painters say it is very ( Read more... )

Primer and five coats is not unheard of with red or red-family members, like burgundy. Sorry you had to learn this one the hard way. Next time, those pastels won't look so...wimpy, will they?

Oh, I knew to expect five coats. It's just that the coats won't go on *evenly*. You can see overlap where the roller meets -- and it's seemingly impossible to correct.

Hee. Well, I just spent two hours on the phone with my mom. She was in a "sharing" mood. Tonight I learned that the two main reasons my parents argued were a) dad's desire to bet on the horses and b) mom's refusal to have frequent sex.

Oy.

OMG--That call from your Mom must have been a definite TMI experience. There are just certain things that you don't want to know about your parents.

When my parents were getting divorced they both insisted on dumping their dirty laundry in my lap until I had to tell them I did not want to hear this. Even though I was 29 I felt like plugging my ears and singing Lalalalala.

And yet... I then share that information for all to see. I found it more amusing than anything. My poor dad. ;)

Reading about your painting escapades remind me of a time not too long ago when we were painting our walls. It was hard work! We used this type of roller that was bunched and stuff... a rag roller I think it was called. It looks really nice once it dries on the wall.

I'm hoping that the sponge painting idea works, coz if it doesn't my head may just explode.

That is a *gorgeous* photo. Sorry to hear about the painting woes, but yay for them if during that time, your mind is busily plotting new fic. Also yay for the bargains! ;-)

That is a *gorgeous* photo.

I may want to lick it.

And yes, I am plotting fic -- I just have no time to actually write it! I feel like I'm under this time pressure, and have to keep reminding myself that I have two *weeks* off.

Mix your red with glazing material. It'll make it easier to work with and sort of transparent. You can manipulate it better. Just make the blotches consistent and tell everyone it's a cutting edge designer technique. Good luck. m

Wouldn't making it more transparent be what I don't want? Coz then the early blotches would show through even worse. I dunno, I think I hate red.

True, but you can see where you need more paint and can sort of swirl it around in random ways, sort of like ink blots. m
