Yeah, I'm pretty sure all overt references to Illya-as-Communist occur in the first season only. I wonder how much the lack of later reference was the producers' choice, how much from DM since I gather he's rather more, um, conservative in his own political leanings?

hmm. you know I even considered using a moment from one of the novels? In "The Vampire Affair" when Illya is performing an autopsy on a wolf in their inn's kitchen. I love that.

Dude, that's awesome. Totally makes me want to write Grimm fairy-tale-esque MUNCLE fic now, and I've never even read any of the novels. Are they any good?

Some of them are. I liked "The Vampire Affair" and "The Dagger Affair" and the "Mad Scientist Affair." The last one, if I'm remembering correctly, is about a plot from Ireland to export poisoned beer to Great Britain to finally get rid of the English...or something.
