*An odd note about Hikari: Despite wearing elaborate dresses and the like, she moves around absolutely silently, like a fucking ninja. So it's sometimes almost impossible to notice her presence before she calls attention to herself... like by speaking.

By this point, she had heard Johan leave, and decided to follow him. She'd actually been tailing him for a while, yet as she got there, she waited for a while to see what he was up to. After he sat for a while, she finally spoke up:*

What, you don't believe me when I say I'm not mad at you, afraid of you, or just holding a grudge against you?

*The words sound more teasing than anything, and Johan's still smiling as well.*

... Someone like you... is rare.

*He shrugs.*

I guess. Juudai's the same way, too, I know, in that he's willing to give second chances... So even if it's unlikely, maybe you'll wind up finding someone similar, who knows? Just because the odds are low doesn't mean you can completely say "well, it'll never happen", right?

And like I said, also... you'd be surprised what people can find it in their heart to forgive.

... People... don't forgive... those who are in a lower position.

It depends. As it is now, I don't see you being any lower than anyone else as a person, even if I think about it from the perspective of others.

...Maybe it's because of the bad experiences you had all your life, but I've found that even if it's not forgiven at first... time really does heal all wounds eventually. It gets difficult to keep grudges as time goes on, unless you're truly a mean-spirited person, and there really aren't too many people who are plain, outright mean by nature in the world either.

As a whole... people aren't too bad. They have plenty of unfavorable qualities that can be found commonly in anyone, and to different extents, but... If you get close to someone, anyone, even if it's just someone you choose right off the street... there'll probably be something about them you'll find is likable, even if it's not readily apparent.

Besides, haven't I been living longer than you? Who says I wouldn't know? *He grins.*

... For years... I had no home... I had to live on the streets... Before Ikutsuki, I had no money, or food...

But you have friends and family now, don't you?

It's unfortunate... but it doesn't necessarily have to be anyone else's fault. It's not the fault of the general public, nor is it the fault of the person who has to live like that. The way society sets itself up... it's difficult for everyone. If it's not one thing, it's another.

But hey... you're a good example of someone turning out to have good qualities. What happened... even though it's over, you turned out not to be the villain everyone thought you were suddenly, right?

... People... will attack those on the streets... that they think can't defend themselves.

Normal people? I think only desperate people do stuff like that... or people with something really wrong in their head.

There are people out there like that, yeah, I admit... but there are still people who care about them, too. And there has to be something there for them to care about in the first place, right?

I'm just saying that there's a little bit of something good in everyone, as cheesy as it sounds. Even if they don't show it. Maybe some people's bad outweigh their good, but... that doesn't mean they don't have any at all.

Well... I'm sorry you think that. Like I said, I'm of the opinion that there's something to like in everyone, no matter how small or trivial, but... If I can't convince you of it, I can't convince you.

I hope you change your mind one day, though. Maybe you just need to have a happier life from now on. It's probably your rough start that made you feel this way, or at least had something to do with it...

...Maybe that's all you need. You're never going to get along with everyone, naturally, but having found people you like and can find friendship in... it's much better than being completely alone and isolating yourself, isn't it?
