It So strange to see Giles actually not joining Angel in wanting to get rid of Spike. The fact he knows that you shouldn't mess with Destiny makes the difference. It's nice to read a realistic take of Giles at least neutral about things.
I don't have really anything else to add but I'm still loving the story.

If this were set in a season any later than 3, I couldn't rationalize this characterization of Giles at all. Maybe season 4, but that's pushing it, especially since that's after the Wesley take over of his position in the council and Rupert getting all pompous and pissy (rightful anger, but still, it started his downward spiral into black and white territory).

Still a challenge to pull off for me, but I hope I at least skimmed the surface of realism here! Thanks very much for reading and reviewing and I'm glad you're still on board! :)

Oh god, they did it! They did that damn spell. Buffy seems to be taking the claim thing rather well considering. Angel seems to be his usual pig headed self. Wonderful update, can't wait for more.

Angel seems to be his usual pig headed self. You think so? Hmm...maybe you'll change your mind in the next chapter. He loves Buffy in his own way and sometimes is a bit old fashioned with how he makes decisions for her, but I don't think he's malicious about it. Maybe that's just my Angel <3 though! You be the judge!

I will have more very soon, however, and it's FULL of happy so get ready! :) Thanks for reading.

Angel always annoyed me the way he treated Buffy. He always came across very selfish and all knowing. Maybe pig headed wasn't the right choice of words but it was what sprung to mind at the time. But I know though the whole buffy/angel relationship faze, he was always the one doing exactly what he just done in your fic. Going over her head. So, I think you captured the ponce perfectly, and yes, eagerly awaiting for the next chapter now!

Or what if their destiny is meant to serve a greater purpose? As you can guess, I love that .:-) I really enjoyed the interaction between Angel and Giles who wants what is best for his slayer.

The image of Spike smoking near the tree under Buffy's window just to stay close is so lovely..

Thank you for this wonderful reading that made my Monday start in the best ways.:)

Well, we all know that Buffy and Spike are meant to be! Clearly, the writers of the show missed that. It should be one of the 10 Commandments.

Thank you for reading and I have more chapters on the way, filled with much happier moments. :)

i like your angel. he feels real. he and giles as instigators of the claim is the last guess i would have made but their sincerity comes across. angel may be jealous and behave like a petulant child at times but he's not an asshole. thanks for not forcing him to be the dufus of the story.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have serious Angel <3. While sometimes his character bored me unless there were crazy things happening AROUND him (on Angel the series) I never thought he was an asshole to the people he cared about. Antiquated views on things, hell yes, but his intentions were honorable. Not always what the person wanted, but never manipulative or asshattesque. (I made up a word, and it's really pretty. Look how pretty that is!)

And there's even more Angel in the next chapter and I hope your comment on this chapter carries over to the next one. Thanks for reviewing, Jamie!

Buffy being able to feel the deep emotions coursing through Spike makes her compassion for his loss believable and heart hurting. The claim is still confusing, but how can Buffy not feel crappy about the corner she's been painted into? Again, choices have been wrested from her hands.

Angel was playing pretty fast and loose with the possible results of that spell. He was trying to manipulate the situation to his advantage. I don't believe he just skimmed the wording of the spell. I'm looking forward to Buffy and Angel's conversation. I hope it's very heated!

I loved this in voice line: Her eyes were wet and her body was exhausted and all she wanted to do was sleep and then kick Willow’s ass for abracadabraing her future into a pile of crap. Maybe a righteous ass kicking will get Willow's mind off her own scuttled love life.

Spike watching over Buffy was also lovely. Not stalkery at all.

Buffy not feel crappy about the corner she's been painted into? YES! THAT!

He was trying to manipulate the situation to his advantage. Trying, and guiltily admitting to it later when Giles caught him. I don't think he was trying very hard. The Buffy/Angel conversation is coming up in the next chapter and while moments Do Get Heated, it might not be what you're thinking! :)

And...I should have that up fairly soon. Thank you so much for reviewing! It makes me type like the wind.
