You know, I think it fit perfectly with playing at the same time as Iron Man 3 - I was so damn disappointed with SHIELD that nobody came to help Stark deal with the Mandarin/Extremis that this is the only explanation I'll accept.
I really wish that I could force my brain to accept it. There's no way that I can accept that as Washington D.C. in December, though, even if Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. hadn't point-blank stated that Iron Man 3 happened before it started. :-/
Dammit, I really need to watch Agents of SHIELD one of these days. Makes me kind of sad that noone came to see if Tony was ok - considering Fury himself came the last time it looked like he might be dying.
I'd like my Black Widow movie now, please. This. Times a thousand.
Thor not being there can be explained by Jane hating all things SHIELD to begin with, and not really letting them know that he came back after the epic battle was all done. And then the final battle stuff only really started up within SHIELD itself, so even if Thor was awake and watching the news enough to catch the Helicarriers rising, he'd be too far to get there before the battle was over.
Yeah, Bruce and Thor not being there isn't that difficult to explain. Even Tony, to some extent, although it's a bit surprising that they didn't even mention trying to contact him as an option. But Clint? That's the one I'm really scratching my head over.
They can keep doing Steve/Bucky movies, I'm definitely not complaining, especially with the extra Steve/Sam "On your left!" flirting. <3
I read somewhere that Troy was probably also working for SHIELD, since the only thing left working in Fury's car after it got mostly destroyed was the air conditioning. XDDD

I keep hoping they're going to put in some type of throwaway line about something going on at the same time, as an explanation, but nothing so far.

And Sam Wilson is love. Lots of love.
