Pairing: EunHae
Rating:  R (language, situation)
Genre: Fraternity!AU, Incest!AU, Fluff, Romance
Type: One-shot

Summary: Donghae gets himself into a gang fight - all unprepared with no self-defense at all. It takes another person to get him out of there; a man with aloof eyes, few words but gentle touches, an ex-leader who is also his step-brother and more.

--

“Don’t go home alone, wait for me when I’m done with class. Or always take the route the shortest way home and don’t ever think of passing by the arcade just to play if you’re not with me.”

A pause, no sounds of response.

“Donghae, are you listening to me? Don’t you let suspicious people come close to you.”

He had had it, banging his fist on the door.

“Why?” Donghae hissed, feeling his constricted chest of both bubbling anger and anxiety. He never liked raising his voice.

“Just listen to me. Don’t ask questions.” Hyukjae said, not even sparing a glance from the textbook he was reading, missing the steam coming right off Donghae and his fingers balling tightly it hurt.

“You’re giving enough reasons not to listen to you, with your shitty responses like that.” He spat before he forcefully closed the door with an echoing pound, running to the nearest couch to get a pillow to scream at it.

Donghae finally flipped, cursing Hyukjae inside his head in several languages untold. He never liked the nonchalance of him, never liked to not know anything and yet Hyukjae always kept to himself and tells Donghae not to do this, not to do that without any reasons to follow why. It had started just three weeks ago, this seemingly selfish security he was doing. Or whatever Hyukjae was trying to attempt.

Why? Why? Why? This question kept repeating inside his head, screaming his frustration against a poor throw pillow.

Hyukjae would never get it. He would never get it how much of what he did affected Donghae, much to Donghae’s dismay. He wanted to know, wanted to find out. The reason behind Hyukjae’s sudden change of behavior. It had been very easy, casual, of them talking because Donghae was naturally loud and Hyukjae simply listened, or smiled a little if the conversation was good.

It used to be as easy as talking with like siblings should. Only, they weren’t exactly. Donghae frowned at thought of the rift that separated him with Hyukjae. That, and Hyukjae’s sudden indifference with him.

They weren’t blood-related, never could be, never would be. And yet Donghae didn’t want to be separated, didn’t want the rift at all. Hyukjae was all he had.

With a last grip on the pillow and a huff, Donghae decided.

He would get to the bottom of this.

--

He hadn’t meant to get swayed; his classmates dragging him to the shop district for booze and games. They’d karaoke if all of them shared the payment and sing the evening away with new found girls for company. It had been fun and exciting until his phone vibrated for an incoming call.

“Where the hell are you?” Hyukjae’s voice boomed from the other end of the line. “I said we’re going home together-is that loud music I’m hearing?”

“Yes it is and no, I left early because I wanted to.” Donghae said, finding himself sounding like a child but he really couldn’t help it. “You can’t tell me what to do.”

“Donghae! It’s dangerous outside!”

“What am I, six? I’m perfectly fine taking care of myself!”

“No, it’s not like that! There are men who-”

He didn’t let the man from other line finish anything; switching his phone off and tossing it inside his bag, away from sight and mind. No matter what, he’d be coming home safe and that’d show Hyukjae he could watch out for himself just fine.

Though he wondered honestly what the fright was all about. The apparent urgency of it. But all his thinking got filed away when a microphone was pushed to him, cheers of encouragement were heard after and ladies rounded him up, giggling at him to sing the next song.

Donghae awkwardly complied, hitting the play button.

--

They were too drunk to handle, boisterously making a ruckus and scenes and hailing a taxi like they were yelling through a megaphone. Donghae’s friends laughed, waving flailing at him to go ahead and saying they were fine once they get in the ride. No need for him to look after them, they assured. They wanted Donghae to start walking home while the street lights and shop lights were still on.

And he did, trying to keep a straight and functioning mind as he threaded through the crowd, his feet on auto-pilot to the route back to his place. Back to where Hyukjae was.

Speaking of Hyukjae, he opened his phone to find seven miss calls and please go home and tell me where you are, Hae, please and stay safe messages, over ten of it. It made him smile a little, knowing that Hyukjae was concerned. But he ached to cause him stress like that. He probably shouldn’t make Hyukjae so worried. But then again, it was his fault for not explaining things making Donghae much more rebellious.

“I’m on my way home,” was what he began to type, knowing that this would give his brother some sense of peace…

Until an arm had tugged his wrist and another cuffing his throat, almost choking him.

“Got you, you asshole. He’d definitely come now when we have you now here.”

The strong knock on his head had made him let go of his phone, even before pushing Send and passing out on the dirt floor and darkening surroundings. The sounds were a blur, sight a haze and he could only make of silhouettes of four to five men in front of him, surrounding him.

Donghae should have listened.

--

He received an ominous message, one that held all dread and nightmare; a threat he knew was coming but didn’t anticipate so early.

Got your brother, fucker. He’d make a wonderful practice toy. If you want to settle this once and for all, you better go downtown or else, well, let’s say I wouldn’t know exactly what my boys would do to him. He IS such a cutie after all, so vulnerable, so weak, so TEMPTING.

He sent a reply, before mass messaging the others. Fuck you.

--

The ice-cold water shot Donghae awake, spluttering the offending liquid out of his mouth and nose and trying to catch his breath. He wanted to wipe the water off his face, only to realize he was bounded, on the floor and cold. He squirmed, feeling the tight burn on his wrist, to look up and see sneering features at him.

“So you say this is the guy? His brother? Damn, they don’t look alike! This one looks a weakling.” The man by his leg nudged his side with his foot. Donghae growled with hair sticking on his forehead and cheeks. “Woah, there. Dude’s awake.”

“Who are you and what are you trying to do?” Donghae demanded, staring at the man who stood in the middle, arms crossed, smirk as wide as it could get, like a boss.

“Nothing much, just using you as a bait for someone I want to settle things with immediately. Eunhyuk’s a coward to go into hiding for such a long time and it’s high fucking time he shows up.”

“W-what?”

“And you,” the man knelt before him and violently taking his chin, making Donghae look at him. “You are the princess to a prince who’s coming like an angry bull. I said before I’ll take what he holds dear and torture it. Congratulations, dude. You are about to scream bloody hell.”

The kick on his stomach made him curl, groaning in pain and missed to evade another slap on his face. His lips must have taken a blow, bleeding and tasting blood next. Donghae tried to find his footing, to be be upright, to stand on shaky legs only to be put down with an excruciating force behind his head with a fist. He met the floor with a thud and throbbing head and probably a swelling cheek. He couldn’t even feel his strength trying to bounce back.

“Why walk around alone at night, boy? Didn’t Eunhyuk-hyung warn you about going home alone? That you’d probably meet bad strangers on the streets? His enemies, perhaps?” The man took a handful his hair, pulling him up and watching with sick amusement Donghae’s face contorting into pain. “All the time we spied on him and his weakness, it came down to his little step-brother. You.”

The punch had made Donghae’s face snap at the side.

“H-he’d never come.” Donghae managed to sputter out, coughing the blood that was suddenly inside his throat.

“And why is that?” The man bemused, his grip tightening to a point that Donghae felt several of his hair strands uprooting.

“Because he hates me now.” Was all Donghae could reason, and feeling awful at the realization of that. Probably now Hyukjae was asleep back at home, didn’t even wait for him to come back to see for himself that Donghae had arrived safely. By all rights he had the right to be angry for his juvenile behavior of going out and offing his phone.

Probably, Hyukjae didn’t know he was taken in a place so dark, so shady that it scared him…

“Oh, that’s too bad. He’d come around, knowing you're missing. So while we wait, let’s have a little fun, eh?”

The hand inching up on his thigh had Donghae squirming in retaliation, shaking in terror and trying to uncuff his wrist he knew impossible with all of his remaining strength. Which was so little. “Don’t you dare, you sick-”

The hand got higher and higher and the smug had turned to a disgusting smile. Donghae finally yelled a shrilling No! when he felt being cupped and kneaded him through the fabric. Swift fingers undoing the button of his pants and zipper going down tooth by tooth.  It frightened Donghae to the core.

The face had inched close to his, breathing down on him. Then a forceful mouth was on him and kissing him so painful and dirtily, it didn’t even sit well in his mind and stomach. The man had pulled away, licking his now blood-smeared lips from Donghae’s wouned ones when Donghae took this as a chance to spit at the offender’s face, managing to cease the assault even for a while.

The grace period to run and escape was little, unfortunately. He hadn’t thought ahead at all. He just knew it had to stop. His body screamed in rejection.

The man did stop, wiping his face with his sleeves and stared at Donghae deadly. “You little bitch. You’ll pay for that.”

The jab on his stomach made him hurl to the other side, sending him limp and weak. The taunting laughs and sniggers were ridiculing, the howls of More, sir! Make him suffer were chants of something he didn’t want to hear anymore. All he tried focusing was the distraction of his drumming heart, loud and clear and thoughts of Hyukjae back at home safe and away from harm.

He didn’t want Hyukjae to come. It was all his fault for letting this happened. He should’ve listened.

Donghae prayed a little inside, wishing to see Hyukjae again but not with him looking battered, wounded and pitiful like this. He wanted Hyukjae…

Unconsciousness was inviting him, slipping away from reality and just let himself get swallowed in darkness so he wouldn’t see, wouldn’t feel and wouldn’t know anymore. But the glass windows were suddenly shattered broken and screams pierced into the air and faintly he could hear punches, kicks and more shouting around the area they were in.

“The fuck, Eunhyuk! When the hell-”

The sentence was muffled , followed by a grunt and a whimper next to him. Slowly he adjusted his hazy gaze to find his assailant on the floor, in a lethal position like him. Only that his assailant seemed more pounded than him.

His eyes fell to another person he didn’t expect to be there.

Hyukjae, with his black leather open-finger gloves he rarely wore, so slick under bulb lights. He knew of those. Hyukjae once told him when they were still starting out as newly-contracted siblings, never wanting to wear it again. Something about fighting and him as the lead to the fights, that Donghae never found out anything more because Hyukjae didn’t want to share about it anymore.

And he was there, standing so prestige and real, his face blank of expression but saw the eyes that burned in anger.

“This is for kicking him,” Hyukjae roared, his combat boots flying to the man’s stomach. “And this is for the blood on his lips,” he then took hold of frail fingers and distorting it in a position Donghae could never stomach.

Hyukjae’s eyes flashed at Donghae; gaze falling to his lower body and then saw the one thing he suddenly got violent for. “You touched him, you bastard? You touched him?”

The man shook his head, growing weak and helpless, begging him to stop when Hyukjae took hold of his collar and easily hauled him up. “I’ll kill you. I’ll make sure to that you’d never be recognizable, even to your family. I’ll fucking kill you right now.”

It was like watching a predator ready to attack its powerless prey without a second to spare, no mercy, with the way Hyukjae’s teeth clenched and grip harsh to a man who tried prying off the hands the held him, watching the victim squirming for freedom.

Donghae knew that if no one stopped Hyukjae, he could really do something regrettable.

It took much strength to be upright and visible; he crocked out with a plea that burned his throat just by trying to speak, trying to be heard, “No, Hyukjae. Don’t. Please.”

Hyukjae turned to him, slowly, his face directly to Donghae and carefully said, “But this man hurt you.”

“I don’t care…” Donghae managed to say between heaving breaths, calming his running heart. “Just don’t.” In his mind, flashes of polices and authorities suddenly coming right at them, catching Hyukjae doing the unthinkable and demanding him to release the lifeless body. He’d be taken hold, be put away, and separated from Donghae just because of a single mistake. He won’t let it happen. He would never. “Please, stop.”

“Eunhyuk, I hear police sirens from afar. We gotta jet.” A familiar boy approached, Sungmin was the name he remembered the times they came over their house, together with another big guy. This time however, instead of a bubbly and smiley persona he grew accustomed with, Sungmin looked as equally sharp and grim.

Donghae couldn’t miss the trail of beat up men behind Sungmin. His knuckles raw, shirt rumpled but still sporting an easy look.

“Okay.” Hyukjae said, before tossing the man like he was a ragged doll and immediately hovered to Donghae. “I’ll take you home. With me. Now.”

His restrains were loosened and felt the relief of his now free but sore wrist. He was determined to stand, to get on jelly legs to work when Hyukjae knelt, his behind facing Doghae and ordered, “Get on my back. We need to run.”

“No, Hyukjae. I can-”

He wordlessly got tugged down by the hand, pressed against the lean and sturdy back and begrudgingly settled his legs on the waist and aching arms around the neck. Hyukjae held him securely, turning his head to say, “Sungmin, Siwon, Zhou Mi, let’s go.”

They left even before the police could arrive at the scene. He could only imagine what might have happened to the men left behind, all bruised and some unconscious. He won’t forget the man shaking his fist and cursing, “I’LL GET YOU FOR THIS, EUNHYUK! YOU BETTER PREPARE!” before passing out completely.

What relieved him were the laughs of the others they were with, words like, “they had it coming!” and “seriously, they didn’t think we couldn’t take them on? Oh, please.” and “Siwon, you almost blew the man’s nose out of proportion!”

It was Hyukjae’s gentle hold at him that relieved him the most, as they ran to main road and back to their home.

--

“Ow, ow, ow. Can you be any gentler?” Donghae winced as the cotton was pressed just above his eyebrow pierced him, over and over again.

“This is your punishment for not listening.” Hyukjae said, taking another fresh band-aid and placing it over the wound a little rougher than he should.

“You could’ve told me you were wanted by gangs. I could’ve understood. Ow. You know I would,” Donghae winced when the fresh cotton with antiseptic was dabbed on his burnt wrist. He watched closely as Hyukjae sighed, his shoulders slumping.

“I tried to get rid of the gangs and fights I used to belong. When I suddenly got into a new family, I told myself to be a better person. For myself, for you too.” Hyukjae reached for the gauze and gently wrapped it on the now-clean wounds. “Well, apparently, I’m still being chased by people even after I quitted.”

“I can see that.” Donghae mused, obediently playing doll as Hyukjae tended his wounds with much gentleness now. “Sorry about, you know…”

“Yeah. I know. Forgiven. I should’ve just been more… you know.”

Donghae chuckled softly, closing his eyes when Hyukjae dabbed ointment on his swelling cheek and a spot just below his eyes. “Yeah, I know.”

The sudden silence made him look through lidded eyes, found Hyukjae considering him with such close proximity. The heat was slowly creeping up, to his face, to realize that Hyukjae was leaning slowly and slowly, breathing softly and…

It was only by a second when Donghae averted his face, Hyukjae’s lips landing the corner of his parted mouth.

“What’s wrong?” Hyukjae murmured, soft lips against his skin. It almost tickled him. But the tone of concern was there, with a tinge of rejection. “Do you not want to…?”

“No, it’s not that. I can’t-” Donghae stuttered, feeling his shaky hands on purchased on Hyukjae’s shoulder, tightening and trying to transfer some kind of pleading messages to him. He remembered all too vividly, at the worst possible time, the rough man’s kiss on his mouth. Demanding, sloppy and just awful. He didn’t want Hyukjae kissing the same mouth the man did. Donghae could at least clean his mouth first. Or something.

He just didn’t feel the right to kiss, to feel his mouth against Hyukjae’s soft and inviting ones because his was…

“Did that man do something to you?” Hyukjae pulled away, inspecting with eyes that shone pure concern. “Donghae, did he?”

“Well…”

It made his eyes crossed, breathing hitched and his heart all but tripled in beat when Hyukjae captured his mouth in deep lip-locked. The tension that coursed through him was dissipating with the time as they felt each other’s mouth. Soft, gentle, lovingly was all he could describe what that lips and tongue was doing to him.

And he liked it. Donghae liked it so much that he let himself be horizontal on the couch with a man on him, chests pressed, hips pressed, fingers twined.

“He kissed you and I hate it. I’m going to make it so that his kiss are as good as gone and mine is as good as you’ve never had before.” Hyukjae hmphed as his other hand snaked under Donghae’s shirt to feel the aid patches on his skin. “I’ll be gentle because of this, but don’t expect me to keep the promise after a while.”

“Hyukjae…”

The promise wasn’t kept, like what he predicted so because he was aching and hurting and groaning and pleasured under Hyukjae and his touches. It felt so good to be claimed back and marked.

It didn't take blood-relations to belong.
