--
It had been too quiet around the neighbourhood to the point that even the news seemed to not know it existed. There were no crimes, no scandals, not even little noise to put the place in newspapers, talks and whatnots. The neighbourhood was as boring as anyone knew it and Kyuhyun was already at the brink of madness because, well, he was actually dreaming of the opposite of boring.
Cho Kyuhyun dreamt of adventure beyond the home he was surrounded with. He dreamt of stepping into a new world - not like this place of nothing but monochrome and bland hues - and see how it was when everything was all sorts of escapades and bright colours. How he longed to travel, just like what his parents did, only, they didn’t come back and family friend Eeteuk took him under his wing for over ten years now.
Heechul had it made - going as far as he shared to them - only to come back because Heechul liked the peace and serenity of their home. Unlike Kyuhyun who found their home everything but exciting. Opposites, they were, but they share a little similarity of fondness for Eeteuk who was with them until they could remember.
So here they were - three of not-blood-related brothers watching over a little library called Book Pages - watching the world go by as they watch over their shelves and books.
It had occurred to Kyuhyun to travel like Heechul did but, as much as he claimed he was so ready to see new things, the thought of leaving actually freaked him out. To get used to one surrounding meant security and security meant him being able to control what he has. Kyuhyun already lost two persons before and he was not about losing two again if he went away.
But he knew he’d come back, that was, if he went away. Or Eeteuk and Heechul wouldn’t leave him because they promised not to but the thought gnaw him like crazy that just by convincing himself everything would be okay, he’d freak again. And that was five years ago and until now, he still freaked.
So he just stayed where Book Pages was and lived a dull life in a dull place.
And that was why he was into books and reading he was dubbed as the Class Nerd because reading in between classes helped him travel without actually boarding a plane or riding a train or sailing on a boat to learn about the outside. He read until he couldn’t, read until he imagined, read until Sungmin - his only friend - would hit his head because he wasn’t paying attention to his latest gossip.
“Kyuhyun!”
“Oh-OUCH! HEY! What gives?” Kyuhyun whined, soothing his head bump and placing down his book.
Sungmin shoved him a picture of a big house not too far away from Book Pages. “Now I got your attention, check this: there are new tenants again of this haunted house we used to play at.”
“That mansion? Really?” Kyuhyun mused, particularly uninterested because anyone who bought that house left after a month. It was just another mover trying for the biggest home in the neighbourhood.
“And, well, I just wanted to add that Siwon’s just two tables away from us too!” Sungmin nearly squealed, shoving a new photo of the man and Kyuhyun just rolled his eyes.
As much as he wanted to wring his neck, Kyuhyun loved Sungmin like a best friend would and best friends didn’t choke each other. For now, he’d just ignore that twinkling, adoring eyes for that manly underclassman and replace his vision with texts and illustrations of his book.
Which earned him to be hit him again.
Ah, college life was not as exciting as Kyuhyun expected. Or hoped for. The only thing exciting was Sungmin and his man-crush to that Choi Siwon.
--
“Yah, get me that book, will you? I don’t understand why these kids wouldn’t put them back on their proper shelves! Space and Time is so not Ecclesiastical.” Heechul pointed over the upsettingly wrong book on other side and Kyuhyun immediately went for it. Today was organizing day because Eeteuk was away but ordered to fix up.
Being surrounded by books comforted him, comforted them in general - vast topics stretched from local knowledge to the outside world. They managed to trade some to receive new ones for them to look after and to lend to those who want to know more. Books are teachers, Kyuhyun knew, because they know so much to help in real life. From Science, History, Cooking, and Mechanics to Architecture, Universe, Religion and Self-help - they had everything.
Until Kyuhyun noticed a leather-covered book just under the coffee table. He was sure to remember not listing any leather-covered manuscript before. He was, after all, the list-keeper-note-taker-something-someone. “Hey, I think there’s a lost book here.”
Heechul didn’t hear him; too busy correcting misplaced books while cursing elementary kids - Kyuhyun thought.
The book was old and brown and he couldn’t be mistaken with Mandarin characters decorating it. He leafed through pages, uncomprehending it but still managed to magnet him especially illustrations that had people in it - people looking enigmatic and mysterious and pale wearing heavy clothes. He knew he was holding a brittle item but he couldn’t shake of the feeling that this book was somewhat special - like its weak pages that told great stories for sure, as all books are. He’d be checking and researching this later.
The chimes made soft sounds - there was a customer and Kyuhyun was today’s counter boy. But first, he made sure to slip into his room to place down the Chinese book before greeting anyone at the front.
--
“Hey, hey. I heard the tenants are males. Must be brothers or daddy-son? Uncles?”
“Hmm-what?”
“You know, the mansion down the street.”
“Ah, that.”
Sungmin straightened before leaning even closer, whispering. “And some says they are creepy looking people too. Mrs. Kim was too scared to even look at mansion now with its curtains drawn close and only one light by the porch. The house looks twice as scary as it was before!”
Kyuhyun finally placed down his Mythology book. “Okay, you’re seriously snooping around.”
“Hey, I can’t help it. It’s really interesting and it’d be nice if I’m not the only enthusiastic about it. C’mon, work with me here.”
“Fine, fine. So, what else? Anyone knows how they look?”
Sungmin paused, and then wolfing down his instant cup of ramen. “Nah, I heard about them only going out at night. Not during the day. What’s up with that, huh?”
So they were evening people, not that it was a bad thing, Kyuhyun thought to himself, and it wasn’t like that was the most eccentric thing in the world. The nosy aunties should meet Heechul to know what real eccentricity was. Or him, for that matter.
Still, as eccentric as it maybe, everything was just too dull and a routine for someone like Cho Kyuhyun. Going to school, studying his major until graduation which was only months away, and manning the library as customary to siblings him, Heechul and Eeteuk. The next day wasn’t grandeur, or even the day after that. Over and over things were just the same. And he was sure that nothing exceptional would happen for at least another decade.
Those movers, he thought, was just another shade of gray in the monochrome-coloured city. Sungmin shouldn’t fuss, really. He’d rather him fuss over Siwon who he noticed kept looking at their direction for quite some time now.
Of course he was sharp. Kyuhyun wasn’t dull like the city he was living in, he was that sure.
“Oh. Oh. Have I told you,” Sungmin started again, stuffing Bulgogi inside his mouth. “That the aunties think that those tenants are vampires? Seriously, they’re like, only seen during the night and there’s like darkness written all over their walls!”
Now this was beyond ridiculous. There were no such things as vampires, Kyuhyun mused. He was a certified book-worm and reading about vampires was like reading fictional stories. That was all there was to it. Nothing more.
--
That evening, around an hour which was suppose to be closing time, Kyuhyun saw Heechul tailing behind a trench-coat guy who seemed to be skimming through books and titles. He couldn’t miss that cautious look on the elder’s eyes but Heechul beamed at him when he saw him coming in.
“Ah, you’re home! Finally! Could you help us? This man’s looking for something. I don’t even know what it is. Oh, I feel like I’m having migraine just reading our thousand-plus collection. ”
Kyuhyun nodded and walked closely, surprised to meet such a pale-faced man. He had a soft expression on his face and was smiling at them. But of course, as any human being sleeping late (Kyuhyun presumed), he had that evident bags under his eyes.
“Oh, I’m looking for book. A very, very old one. Do you have it?” He spoke, stuttering a little over his Hangul. Heechul rubbed his chin whereas Kyuhyun rattled his brain.
“No, I don’t think we have a too-old book here.”
“Oh, how unfortunate. Well, if you happen to see an old brown book, please do let me know. That book is really important. I’m Han Geng, by the way, and we just moved a few blocks from here.”
We? Who we? Kyuhyun paused. “The mansion down the road?”
“Why, yes.”
So, he’s creepy guy Sungmin and the aunties gossiped about.
He wasn’t that creepy. Han Geng seemed a little aloof with the way he sported black wardrobe during warm dark hours - when the two walked him out of the main door and watched him disappear in thin air. But then, was Kyuhyun imagining it? Han Geng seemed to be looking at Heechul so closely. Like he was eyeing on him.
Then the realization occurred to him finally. “Oh, crap! The book!”
“Book? What book?” Heechul looked him curiously, quirking a delicate brow. “Wait, we have it? Why did you lie, you brat!”
“Wait, maybe I’m wrong so I’ll check-
That was then Eeteuk entered from the back door to tell, “Hey, has anyone seen a brown book around? That was an exchange item from the antique shop I visited a couple of days ago and I can’t find it. I’ll have you know that’s a very important Chinese item with historical lineage and costs more than our lives!” He paused before cracking. “Just kidding!”
Kyuhyun eased an uncomfortable expression. “Hyung, I think I have your book.”
--
In the end, he gave back the book and got a little muffin in exchange from Eeteuk who kept repeating that the book was highly of importance. Well, technically, the antique store seller insisted it was important and special that he gladly gave it to Book Pages because ‘the book’s worth bleeding for!’ or whatever that was.
“Should we return it?” Kyuhyun asked.
“Not if they have the proof of legitimate ownership. He might be a scammer, a thief for all we know!” Heechul interjected, downing a sliced cake and sputtering bits of it at Eeteuk’s face.
“Well,” Eeteuk began, while dusting off cake crumbs. “You could visit them Kyuhyun and ask. You know where they live right? Do some spy stuff like the ones you kept on reading!”
“Wha- no way!”
“Yeah, Kyuhyun! You even lied to the nice man!”
Kyuhyun glared at Heechul right after he showered cake crumbs at his direction. Since when did Heechul become his Jiminy Cricket? So he sighed, resigning to raise a defeat white flag and barked, “Fine!”
“Good, now give me your last sliced cake! You’re not eating that, right?”
--
It wasn’t like he was embarking a dangerous quest but it’d be really nice to have partners to visit that haunted house. Kyuhyun asked Sungmin to come with him and the latter couldn’t be any more excited. But his excited quickly disappeared when no one was answering to their nth door-belling.
“No one’s home, I guess?”
“Man, this sucks. I was so ready to welcome the new neighbours too!” Sungmin didn’t hide his disappointment and pouted like a chubby fish. “Maybe tomorrow?”
“Yeah, tomorrow. We’ll try again.” Kyuhyun did a once over at the place, watching how the grasses were as tall as a human, how the walls were already covered with crawling vines and how everything just seemed so spooky to rival the happy sun. He even noted how this seemingly playground place before just reeked with mystery now.
Then he noticed the curtains by the window moving, as if being drawn. Kyuhyun remained quiet, leaving with Sungmin and decided to do an early visit - tonight instead of tomorrow. That wouldn’t really be bad now, would it? And, hey, he was growing curious to whoever lived with Han Geng too.
And he did visit and was surprised to see the main door completely open. He stood there, cautious to everything because there were so many things could be happening right now: a burglar broke in (for that matter, entered in through the door so how dumb was that?) or someone carelessly left it open or the winds were strong enough to open it. Everything. He was a book-worm and he thought a lot. Still, he entered with a brave heart and an inquisitive mind.
It was ridiculously dark but he managed to adjust to see how furniture was still clothed and corners collected webs and dusts. The moonlight seeped through windows and Kyuhyun wondered why he didn’t bring a flash flight with him. Oh well, the natural light was a little of help. It’d work, he thought optimistically.
Now he was at a hallway and still no sign of tenants or Han Geng himself. Maybe everyone was really out? He’d better get out of this place before anyone caught him sneaking around. He’d sued to trespassing and he knew Heechul and Eeteuk wouldn’t like that.
But then he stopped when he passed by a room, caught a sight of a figure standing in the middle. Was it a human? He inspected - his curiosity getting ahead of him - before he realized that he just got pushed against the wall so roughly that his face was meshing with the dusts and concrete.
“Fuck, show it to me! NOW!” The voice demanded him and Kyuhyun’s head was cringing from the pressure by the thick wall. He couldn’t even look behind him, much less identify who was shoving him so painfully. He tried pushing back and got pushed even harder. “Don’t you dare resist.”
“S-stop, it hurts.”
“Not until you tell me where it is, you pathetic human. I hate eating the likes of you. Disgusting. You leave bad tastes, don’t you know?”
“W-What are you talking abou-
Everything moved too fast to comprehend and the only thing registered was him hitting the floor with an excruciating pain shooting down his back. He laid sprawled there, powerless to the weight on him and a hot breath over his face. “Don’t play stupid because I hate stupidity. Humans are so full of it. The only thing you’re good at is lying and fucking.” The voice stopped then spoke so low. “Hey, you’re kinda hot.”
Kyuhyun wasn’t dumb or passive to begin with but the moment he felt his hips being rolled on at, hands roaming maliciously over his chest, his eyes shot up in panic, thrashing immediately. “D-don’t!”
“As if you don’t like it. So like a human. Stop pretendi-
The weight on him quickly withdrew and Kyuhyun began hearing punching and kicking and awful strings of curses. There it was, right in front of him: one on his knees, cringing and the other with closed fists. He was safe, Kyuhyun thought before letting himself to completely pass out.
--
By the time he came into, it was already late afternoon and so he missed class. Heechul and Eeteuk hovered over his bed like bees, waiting for him to gain full consciousness. Though, everything was still a blur and a mess in his head like he had a bad drink last night.
Last night. Oh, shit.
“What happened to you!? Han Geng brought you over unconscious, beating down our doors!”
“Did you get into a rubble, you idiot? We told you to stay away from that alley near your university!”
“Does anywhere hurt?”
“Oh, you have an unpretty bad bump on your forehead, brat. I’ll get ice.”
And they dispersed like that, doing motherly care and not even giving Kyuhyun a chance to speak. But if he did speak of yesterday, would they believe him? That there was something strong, something inhumane attacked him? A person with brute force, saying weird things? A monster?
Han Geng. Was that person Han Geng? He vaguely remembered the standing figure but it was definitely not Han Geng physique. It was someone else’s, he was sure.
And then night came by quickly and Kyuhyun remained indoors, skipping today’s visit to the haunted mansion as per promised with Sungmin. He’d explain himself tomorrow for bailing out so for now, the smell and sight of books were the only soothing things calming his erratic heart. He was about to close the main door because Heechul and Eeteuk were out to get dinner when it opened and reveal a late-visiting customer. “I’m sorry but we’re closing-
That took him by surprise at the sight of another black-clad male with striking orange hair and dead-white skin. With fashionable glasses at the bridge of his nose. Beautiful, mysterious and simply breath-taking were the words running inside Kyuhyun’s head over and over again. Who was this person?
The male walked over the stunned Kyuhyun, gently claiming his cheek, inspecting his forehead and its bump-ified glory. All courtesy and personal-bubble-respect shoved aside. “He got you really bad.” The beautiful person told, sadly.
“Wha -?” Kyuhyun stuttered at the ice-cold palm, staring straight at the stranger’s strong eyes. If Kyuhyun were his normal self, he’d push that hand away and step back. But he didn’t. And it surprised him like never before.
Just then Han Geng followed, entering the door and closing it gently.
“Zhou Mi, I think you’re scaring him.”
“Oh. Sorry.” The ice-cold palm was gone and Kyuhyun felt a little disappointed. But he set aside because there were other things more important than frost-contact. That man was here.
“Han Geng, yesterday, what happened? Who was that person? Everything happened so fast and that person was looking for something that I didn’t know what he was saying and-
The second visitor took his shoulder and sat him down to the nearest chair. Zhou Mi stood idly by the door, as if guarding. “Calm down, calm down.” Han Geng sat next to him. “Okay, listen, about the book I asked before? That person is looking for it and he knows it’s in the city. Somewhere. He’s my cousin and, well, we’re not exactly in good terms.”
Kyuhyun looked stupefied, trying to comprehend it all but nothing made sense, even a bit.
“He’ll stop at nothing and we’re here to get that book before he does.”
Then he eased a serious face. “That book. What’s in it?”
“That’s-
“Nothing for you to find out.” Zhou Mi told over the front; his arms crossed to his chest. “Just answer us: do you have it or you don’t?”
It was Han Geng’s turn to look at him, sounding frustrated. “Didn’t I tell you that they don’t?”
“No, actually, I think we do. It’s, uh, an item my brother exchanged some time ago with an antique store. It’s in Chinese so I don’t know what’s in it. We plan to give it if you prove to us you guys own it.”
The two exchanged surprised looks before Han Geng placed a hand on Kyuhyun’s shoulder again. “Inheritance book by my late grandmother and what is written there is something you shouldn’t know. My cousin wants it because, well, let’s just say he needs more than we do. But he can’t have it. He could never have it.”
Family issues? Was that all there it was to it? He got himself tangled with some crazy cousin wanting a book? If it meant not getting himself shoved against walls or pushing down on cold floors, he’d gladly return it now and tell Eeteuk that the ownership was indeed legit.
“Okay, I’ll go get it.” Kyuhyun stood to where the secret box was, not too far to overhear Han Geng speaking.
“You’re not going to tell him?”
“It doesn’t matter. We’re leaving right after this so it’d be useless.” It was Zhou Mi’s distinct voice.
What didn’t matter? Whatever it was, Zhou Mi was right. It didn’t matter now because the book would be theirs and everything would be back straight to normal. Safe and secure as they should be. Monochrome like he was used to.
But then it wouldn’t just yet, when he rummaged over and found no leather-covered book. “Shit, where is it?”
The chimes rang and it was Heechul’s vibrant voice penetrated the air, only to shriek when... Kyuhyun knew. Quickly, he returned to the front.
“What’s going on here? Kyuhyun? Han Geng? Uh, stranger?”
“Hyung! Where’s that book from before? They own it and they want it back now!” Kyuhyun flailed to Eeteuk who in return gave him a wondering look.
“What? I just sold it to a collector yesterday. I had meant to tell but I forgot.” The elder flashed a wad of cold, hard cash. “Look! Money!” Heechul and Eeteuk never looked so merrier. “And we got decent dinner too!”
“Uh, oh.”
“Crap, we gotta find it. Stat.”
The two were already exiting but Kyuhyun followed them outside, genuinely concerned because this was something it should not be taken lightly for, or so Han Geng convinced him. “I’m sorry I can’t help you. And about the book.”
Han Geng just sent him a little smile - not a smug or annoyed one - just a simple courtesy smile before disappearing, leaving Zhou Mi who stood right in front of Kyuhyun.
“Have you believed in other beings?” He asked him, surprising him. Zhou Mi turned to look at him straight.
“Other beings?” Kyuhyun repeated, not sure if he heard Zhou Mi right.
“You know, like ghouls, werewolves,” he paused and shifted tones. “Vampires?”
Then Kyuhyun remembered Sungmin’s rambling that one time and about the new movers down at haunted house who were Zhou Mi and Han Geng who didn’t look vampires to him at all. Just weird but not vampires. “No. No, I don’t.”
He couldn’t mistake that quick flash of disappointment on the other’s face but dismissed it with imagination. Kyuhyun must be seeing things because Zhou Mi was looking just indifferent next.
“Oh, okay.”
Then he was gone, disappearing with the night. And the image of Zhou Mi burned inside Kyuhyun’s mind before he realized that it did.
Something was not right. Something was definitely not right.
--
The next day, as usual, was no grandeur - just a typical day at class and typical menu at the canteen and typical Sungmin rattling something about Siwon-related and how he finally mustered up the strength to talk to him. Kyuhyun just twirled his soup, off to his own little world and thinking about what could be so important inside that book.
But the book was long gone now. Not even within his reach. It was now somewhere else that Han Geng and Zhou Mi needed to find it. What if it was in a different city now? Would they move?
Would he never see that elusive Zhou Mi again?
“Kyuhyun! You’re not holding a book but your attention is still so far away! What’s a best friend to do to keep you up with me?”
“Oh, sorry. Yeah, Siwon’s handsome, isn’t he?”
“What. WHAT. Don’t tell me you like him too!”
Kyuhyun made a face. A very funny, disapproving face. “Ew, no. You can have him, mister.”
The day ended the way it did for many years of college-attending. And life in general.
He waved Sungmin goodbye, reassuring him that Siwon wasn’t his type before turning to a familiar corner. He was, after all, interested with someone else. And that someone else lived in a mansion down the street he was taking. The night was soon replacing the day and when lamp posts lit and homes turned lively, he stood idly in front of rusty gate, familiar human-sized grasses and vine-covered walls.
He was here again for reasons about the book and about Zhou Mi. He did say he was adventurous, didn’t he?
--
“You’re... here?” Zhou Mi said, a little slowly than normal, surprised. And he was well adjusted with only the light at their porch and behind him was total darkness. Kyuhyun tried not to look but it just looked so off with all the lights gone and Zhou Mi was just fine with it. Or so he seemed like it. “If you’re looking for Geng, I’m pretty sure he’s back to where your place is.”
“Huh?”
“He likes that noisy guy. The one who looks like a girl? I don’t even understand his types.”
It must be Heechul. Either that or men found Eeteuk feminine-ish which was highly unlikely. And Han Geng was nice so there was no problem. If he stayed longer, that meant Zhou Mi would too. “Oh.” He paused for a moment before saying, “Can I come in?”
Zhou Mi looked at him for a good five second before stepping aside. “Watch where you’re going. It’s walk at your own risk here.”
There hadn’t been candles when he first came in here but every corner in the house seemed to have it now. And if during the day was lively, tonight at this home seems livelier with flicking candle lights. Furnitures were still covered and Kyuhyun finally noticed the lack of mirrors on the walls. Or family pictures. Or anything of colourful decoration. He wanted to ask about the love of darkness but he should press on to more important matters, like his reason for visiting.
“Uh, any news about the book?” Kyuhyun tried his luck and watched how Zhou Mi shifted legs whilst leaning against the wall, catching him eyeing him with dark eyes. He did notice the slight exhaust tone of the man but, again, dismissed it.
“Nah, it must be taken somewhere else now. For all we know, it’d be in another country and then I and Geng would have to book flights again, live in a dreary place like this and keep up with his insane cousin.”
“Would you tell me the secret behind it?” Kyuhyun ventured but Zhou Mi shrugged, closing his arms around himself as if fighting the cold. And it wasn’t even cold at all, Kyuhyun thought. “Okay, so, where are you from?”
“Outside. A place you wouldn’t imagine.”
Not that he knew because he couldn’t get away from this place but Kyuhyun was pretty sure that he read enough knowledge books to know one hundred plus countries and cultures. He was interested in the outside world; he wanted to tell Zhou Mi.
But the moment he turned to see Zhou Mi, expecting a smug expression, the man was already on his knees and his one hand covering his mouth whereas the other holding the wall for stability. If he already looked dead-white before, he was looking hell-pale right now. And his pain expression was a giveaway too.
“Are you okay?!” Kyuhyun reached for him but his hand was swatted away, weakly, however. “Hey!”
“Don’t. Don’t come any closer. I-I’m fine.”
“You must be joking because you’re definitely not fine!” He tried again but Zhou Mi backed away, scurrying away on the floor from him like he was contagious, until he hit the wall and couldn’t no longer move. Stubborn as he was, Kyuhyun knelt right in front of him. “What’s wrong? We gotta take you to the hospital!”
“No, don’t. It’s not something the doctors could help.” He paused before turning his head away from Kyuhyun. “I told you to stay back, didn’t I? Go the fucking away. Your scent is intoxicating me so much, I can’t take it when you shove yourself right up my nose.”
“What do you mean the doctors can’t-“ Kyuhyun stopped and finally registered the last sentence. “My what?”
Then it turned quiet. Eerily quiet.
Zhou Mi made no signs of life right after. He didn’t even seem to breathe next. He just had his head hung low. That was then Kyuhyun began flailing in dread, ready to call nine-one-one when he felt himself being pulled across and he was suddenly straddling Zhou Mi, sitting on his lap, with Zhou Mi’s face just about his collarbone and Kyuhyun’s hands were on his shoulders.
“Zhou...Mi?” Kyuhyun slowly looked down, terror shooting up his body and saw a somewhat dead gaze on Zhou Mi’s eyes on him, as if looking back. It didn’t twinkle like it did but Kyuhyun knew he was still alive with the way hands on his hips gripped him and his mouth pressing itself on his skin.
He gasped when a very cold tongue slid across the expanse of his neck, as if trying to taste something, as if trying to look for something. And when it did find a spot, Zhou Mi began kissing it, making sure he suckled the area thoroughly. His hands pulled the waist even closer, securing Kyuhyun as he continued lapping down the bruised spot and Kyuhyun was letting out restraint grunts as response.
Kyuhyun felt all sorts of things and he wasn’t sure what exactly was happening but didn’t deny it either. He was scared, yes, but Zhou Mi was cradling him at the same time, comforting him. But when a pain like a dagger just pierced his neck all of sudden, his eyes bulged out, shocked.
And then he screamed a shrill cry.
“Stop! Stop! Stop! Ah!” Kyuhyun thrashed violently, prying himself off but Zhou Mi held him still by the waist with hand holding his head, drinking and slurping him like he was a scrumptious treat. The sounds of his mouth was making, complete with moans of pleasure echoed the room and Kyuhyun felt all too weakened to fight back. Zhou Mi was just too strong. All of sudden.
And the once awful and unbearable sting on his neck was replaced with something he never felt before- gentleness bordering to bliss. Slowly he was leaning, looking for his missing equilibrium and Zhou Mi finally latched himself off of Kyuhyun’s neck to capture his lips next. There was still blood inside his mouth mix with saliva when Zhou Mi started probing his moist cavern with his audacious tongue and no sooner later, Kyuhyun was kissing him back, slipping his tongue and sliding it over the other. A fight for dominance that Zhou Mi was clearly winning at.
When the need for oxygen reached their heads, they pulled away with a hint of string rather visible between their mouths. Zhou Mi looked like he was just gotten refreshed and alive again and Kyuhyun was the one that looked rather exhausted and hazy.
“I knew your blood tasted good. The moment I saved you back Geng’s cousin. Just the smell of it. But, fuck, I didn’t know you tasted this delicious.” Zhou Mi told him, licking off the excess blood seeping through those visible holes on Kyuhyun’s neck. “And that, well, I have band-aids at the kitchen. You’ll need that.”
Kyuhyun just clung on to him, still woozy like hang-over before choking in dead terror, “What ARE you?”
Zhou Mi simply rubbed his cheeks before leaning close. “I’m just a being you haven’t believed in. Yet.” With a smile, Zhou Mi finished smugly, “I’m only your vampire boyfriend.”
A hot one, Kyuhyun wanted to add but instead, smacked Zhou Mi’s face straight on. “I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU JUST SUCKED THE BLOOD RIGHT OUT OF ME!”

A/N: HO-SHIT. AND I PLANNED TO FINISH THIS IN ONE GO BUT IT TOOK UNGODLY LONG AND I SERIOUSLY ENJOYED PORTRAYING ZHOUMI HERE. Vampire!AUs are kinda overrated these days but I longed to write a hot vampire like Zhou Mi and the whole sucking part right there. *KINK ATTACK* Find it sexy and all~ /deranged
Okay, there are many inspirations to write this plot: Vampire Kisses (Ellen Schreiber) and
For Always (
coley_merrin ). I didn’t read Twilight (Stephanie Meyer) because, well, it’s not really my cup of tea.
I do hope I portrayed a good story shit because, hell, IDK why this reached to 5,100+ words and I just kept typing and typing and typing ‘til kingdom come. And when I said that I wanted to finish this now because surely it’d be months or so to update again because school’s here (and I mean later!), I couldn’t. *LAME*
So... you liek what you read?
Cookies and cakes (as well as comments) are welcome~ Love bites are welcome too! This is a vampire fic, baby!
(Chapter two? Only time would tell... No, I’m serious... *insert sad face here*)
