Chapter 02: Mistake
---
They were not sure how it happened but it just did. One minute everything was recorded and played smoothly - from 7AM to 12MN for the past sessions - then the next thing everyone of the staff, actors and members knew, Heechul had somehow made himself semi-PD of the Super Girl MV. How he managed to snatch a role that was far from his real career, no one knew and understood. Because it was just as what they described - it just happened.
Literally.
And it began the next day when he made himself present at the shoot. A simple - but devilish smile on the inside - was plastered on his lips upon arriving at the scene. He was there, alright, at the party and scanned around curiously at the hired actors and peeps, the props - balloons, food, couches and the music.
The doors opened and revealed the younger members coming out in hot and fashionable clothes and styled hair; their make-ups were simple but enough to define their good-looking features. Kyuhyun was the first one to notice the presence of the older one. Although he found it a bit unusual for his Heechul-hyung to be inside the set itself, the younger one didn't mind his hyung to be there with them.
"Hyung, you're here! We thought you had other works to do!" The one of the youngest members of SJ-M greeted as soon as he was near Heechul.
"Yeah, well, I want to watch again." Was all Heechul's reply to Kyuhyun before walking around the area; his mind quickly drifting off, aimlessly trudging at the small set which earned wondering gazes from the said hired peeps. What he, Kim Heechul of Super Junior, was doing there, they had the vaguest idea. Now, where's that China boy?
"Omo! Heechul-sshi! Is that you? If I knew you were coming, I would've greeted you earlier!"
The said man turned, only to be greeted by a sunshine smile of Jung Jessica wearing a pearl red tube dress. She waved enthusiastically from the door and immediately advanced towards Heechul at the set. The man swore he felt his stomach did weird flops, not because of admiration or bewilderment - Hell, no way. - but the thought of her being paired with his favorite guy did not leave a good impression for the Cinderella-man.
Or so that was the description of the MV and Hankyung and Jessica's roles. He had yet to see with his own two cat-eyes what exactly their parts were.
And Heechul was a civil man; greeting the young lady with one of his famous smile and bowed to her. Of course he couldn't just growl and snarl at the SNSD member for being the opportunist-towards-idiot-Hankyung just because he didn't like the pairing. In fact, as much as he wanted to edit EVERYTHING of Super Girl, he couldn't. He wouldn't.
Yet.
Because if he did react to anything, he might expose something to a certain someone and Heechul did not want that at all. He was civil, CIVIL. And he was quiet, calm, nice, reasonab--
"Earth to Heechul-sshi!"
The male had to clear his throat. "Ah. Oh, Jessica-sshi~ Wow, you're looking, errm, good." Heechul said with a bit of awkwardness but the lady didn't seem to notice the squeak in his voice and instead giggled at him.
"Such a charmer, as always!" She squealed at him and the next thing he knew, he found Jessica's arms latched on his slightly broad shoulders. She embraced him tightly like a friend would. Being under the same agency and all, that was all there was to it. Unfortunately, all that Heechul felt actually was discomfort at the contact of her skin against his. Should he at least be happy about this hug? This was Jessica of SNSD who was clinging on him! Not all guys could get this kind blessing. Or something.
"Uh, Jessica-sshi..." Heechul spoke like he was lost. His eyes wandered off then, slowly admitting himself in her tight grasp, because it will not hurt, c'mon, it's just a stupid hug, when the sight of a certain Chinese male caught his eyes. Like that, still in her arms, Heechul saw Hankyung looking at them both through his dorky, round glasses while he was at the door. In an instant, the Cinderella-man's eyes shot up and swallowed inwardly.
When their eyes finally met for today, Heechul couldn't grasp the emotion Hankyung's eyes showed. He knew that the Chinese man was looking at him straight and only him. Nonetheless, the staring was short and brief and the leader of SJ-M quickly turned to loud and bubbly - exactly the portrait of his dorky and nerdy role - and began chattering away with his members and hired actors.
Jessica, taking this as a starting-sign of their shoot, quickly bowed to the male and skittered off where the SJ-M group was. All that was left was a taken-aback Heechul and his thoughts of what just happened here?
---
Heechul was not the type to mull over previous events and began participating at what everyone assumed as simple PD-work. At first, the staff dismissed his actions as, "Aww, Heechul-sshi's being supportive to his members!"
But the hours flew and the previous modest remark turned to a worried and shocked statement, "Heechul-sshi's straying everything from the original! Somebody stop him! Quickly!"
Even the director, the real one, could only stare in surprise at what seemed like days of shooting for the primary plan teetered to a whole new plot in just a single day! It was all thanks to Kim Heechul's suggestions, managing and, OH HELL, everything!
"No no no~ Jessica-sshi and Geng-ah should at least have 3 meters distance from each other! And when Geng-ah's taking photos of everyone, he should avoid Jessica-sshi!" The Cinderella-man interrupted and centered himself on the party-set up; with a roll of script at one hand, he gestured what he described using his arms.
The camera-men looked at him like they couldn't believe it what the latter was indicating. "But, sir, if we do that... then the whole idea of Hankyung-sshi's trying to get closer to Je--
"And, really, why stay with script when we can do so much more! I say we ditch the whole nerd-princess type of story and focus more on dance and solo shots! Fans will like those more - just like how we did at Sorry Sorry!" Heechul exclaimed much louder to everyone who was listening; as if he was a proud director and producer leading a big production. And every time someone who raise his concern, the second eldest of SuJu interrupted him, like on purpose. Alright, leave it to Kim Heechul and his bright ideas.
But, amidst the planning of a whole new concept, the members of SJ-M shook heads together in dismay at the scene before them.
"Somebody, seriously, stop Heechul-hyung. He's out of control!" Donghae whispered to the six males as they continue watching their hyung and his nonstop ramblings. "Siwon, you do it! You're close with hyung, right? Deal with him!"
"Are you out of your mind?" Siwon looking pretty much shocked. "The last time I asked Heechul-hyung to behave, he shoved Heebum at my face and the cat nailed my nose!"
"But we can't have Henry and Zhou Mi talked to him! It's like sending them to Hell. A HEECHUL-INSPIRED TORTURE. They have no idea just how scary hyung is!"
Heechul turned his head the 7 members; his smile curved into an eerie way and they swore they saw a throbbing vein popping visibly on his forehead. "What was that guys?"
"N-nothing."
And so, Heechul continued his list of bright, new ideas for Super Girl. The male simply had ways to get what he wanted and fortunately for him, everything stopped and seemed to be going his way. The director couldn't decline, or even suggest anything. Even Jessica couldn't comment on anything about the plan. Because Kim Heechul is KIM HEECHUL, he could get away with just about everything.
Or so he thought.
The leader finally stepped in, after noting the time - past 8PM already - and realized what the older male was doing was interrupting their work. The more they delayed, the more they had shootings to do the next days. Plus, changing plots was not something Hankyung approved to do, even if it all came from scary Heechul.
"Heechul-ah, what are you doing? You can't just change everything here. How about you let the PDs and the director do their jobs. And shouldn't you be heading home? You have to be somewhere tomorrow, right? Eeteuk-hyung told me." The leader of the group slowly spoke; his Korean speaking talent a bit off but not too off to be incomprehensible.
"I don't know what you're talking about~" Heechul looked, feigning innocence, at the Chinese member and simply shrugged. He then approached the monitor and TV area of the staff and examined the recorded video: Hankyung holding his cellphone and was videoing the sexy Jessica but the lady merely hit him with her balloon then shoved the gadget away. Heechul twitched his eyes on this. "This is not right at all! C'mon, let's do it again with MY idea instead."
Little did everyone know, Hankyung had already started feeling tad annoyed and irritated. Out of fatigue or simply with his roommate's stubbornness and pushiness, he didn't know. He just felt like he was already at his limit. Ever since morning. "Heechul-ah, quit this, will you?"
The mentioned man blinked at him. "Quit what? I merely try to help. Is that wrong, any way and any how?"
"There's no need to edit or re-shoot. If the director says 'it's okay' then it's okay." Hankyung said, his voice suddenly rising. But the other male was bit oblivious with this and continued his persistence. Really, why were they arguing like this?
"Didn't you say you want a great MV? So here I am, granting it."
The Chinese member sighed in an exhausted manner; his eyes suddenly grew heavy and every muscle ached. He did not need this, especially what happened that morning and now this evening.
After a short pause, he advanced towards the other man and grabbed the latter by the arms. "C'mon, let's go. No use arguing with you." There was a little struggle between the two - Heechul wanting to fling Hankyung's hand away from him but the latter held him tight - and the nearby watchers could only gulp at the sudden tension.
"You really can't persuade me seriously when you're wearing that dorky clothes, you know?"
"What the hell, Heechul-ah? You're the one who's being a total ass now!"
"Oh, do tell. While you're at it, did you know you're a total creeper with your outfit?"
Their struggling turned violent - pushing and shoving - with the Chinese man trying to restrain the other when Heechul collided with one of the monitors and had his hand slammed at the keys of a keyboard. An electronic beeping sounded off harshly next - like those of biological-testing laboratories - and the monitor behind Heechul turned blank instantly.
Then everyone noticed all monitors were off. "Hold, what's goi--
"AHHH!! YOU DIDN'T HIT THE RESET BUTTON, DID YOU?! ALL VIDEOS ARE IN THERE!" One PD dashed and got in between the two arguing males, and searched with frantic and panic eyes; her fingers swiftly operating the main board. She was able to operate the computer as quick and scanned through files.
Then her jaw dropped. "OH CRAP! EVERYTHING'S ERASED!! ALL OF IT! NOOOOOOO!!"
It didn't take five seconds before the whole set turned noisy and loud - grunts of disapproval, complains and wails resounded the walls. Even the members looked like they were completely loss for words.
Heechul remained to where he was - beside the monitors - with a horrified look on his face and Hankyung looking like he was at the very edge of crying, or worse exploding. Instead the Chinese man hung his head low; black tresses casting shadow over his eyes and now taking off the round glasses. He silently walked away and left the group, the set, the staff and Heechul with the words:
"Dammit. Dammit. Dammit. Fucking dammit."
Then the door slammed hard.
