(no subject)
SPN fandom, lately you've been sad. I know I'm new, but even I can see that this fandom is filled with wonderful, fantastic people who have all been welcoming and lovely and utterly fantastic. I think we all need to remember how awesome the people here really are, and to give back to each other. There's been so much hurt lately, and so many bad feelings, and guys, it's really sad that in a fandom of such wonderful people, so many of us are feeling alone and hurt and stabbed in the back. Come on! We can totally do better!
So in the spirit of community, I'm reviving something that a few of you might remember. A couple years back around Christmas, there was a project on livejournal wherein everyone did kind things for other people. Everyone made a little list of five things that they really wanted, things that would make their holiday better. Some people asked for sweaters, other people asked for holiday icons, some people even requested that other people take some cans to a food bank. Then, everyone looked at a master list and tried to make other people's lists happen. It wasn't necessarily a big thing or an epic thing, but it was about showing a little kindness and being good to other people, whether they were friends or strangers.
So here's what I want everyone to do! I want you to go to your journal and make a list of five SPN or J2 things you'd really like. Maybe you would like icons of Dean with a gun, or maybe you want to list a couple things you really love in stories and that would make you totally happy to see. Possibly you'd love to see a story where Jared and Jensen meet in college! Just pick five things - they don't have to be fancy or complex or big, just things that would make you happy. Asking for something for someone else is totally okay - "I think everyone should go read this fic and give really some good feedback because the author has been having a bad week" is absolutely valid. Whatever you want!
Next, come back here and give me a link in comments to your post with your username, and I'm going to put a master list together by editing this post. Obviously, you probably shouldn't flock these posts, but if you really need to, let me know and we'll work something out.
Then, and here's the important part, come back to this post, poke around the list and see what you can do for other people. If you're an author, maybe you could write some fic - it doesn't have to be an epic masterpiece, a 350 word comment fic would be fantastic. (Though epic masterpieces are of course okay!) If you make icons, make icons. If you're great at reading fic, read some fic. Do something for your best friend, or click some links at random and be kind to a stranger. And even if someone else has already done something to check off item number 3 on someone's list? It's okay. You can do something to check off item number 3 too, because it's not like anyone ever complained over too much fic.
Just do something to go through and make someone else's day a little brighter, because seriously, we are all amazing people and this is a wonderful community.
