Sometimes the self moulds to a certain situation, environment, or individual in a repetitive, sticky way. I haven't been able to be "myself" because my old self from two years ago keeps sticking to him. Then he blames the old self, which is not my new self, because that's what he knows and that's what I got stuck into again. I'm not that person

Seriously, it reminds me of something a friend told me in 2003 that I quote (probably too) much: "Part of being who you are is changing. One cliche that irks me to the core is 'Stay yourself, don't change!' If I am to be me I must change.... So Q, 'Be true to yourself and change!!' That is what I say. Being true to yourself is allowing yourself to change even in the face of those yelling hypocrite. You are who you present to them. Present the 'you' that you want them to see."
I'm not sure that's what you're getting at, but it's almost the only thing I've read since '03 that made me think "OMG it's that advice all over again."
*hugs* to you. Relationships are very much a Thing. You seem likely to be an awfully good candidate for adjusting well to their aftermath -- as human beings go, anyway. :-}

Oh! You mean ... yes, let's by all means keep those worlds intact -- especially when it's obvious that the world is closing in, and seems to be nothing more than a spheroid region 705 meters in diameter. :)
