Blood test results...

So, I went to the doctor to find out the results of my latest blood draw for my thyroid and the NP said it was good. It was at 2.4, which apparently is good. * shrugs * I can't tell from the tortuous hot flashes I continue to endure ( Read more... )

Your thyroid is spot on and I envy you! Wow! If I had a 2.4 I'd be in heaven. The higher the score the better the chance that something's going on with the thyroid. Mine's currently at a 9.9, and I can't get anyone to help me with it.

Just a thought - have you talked to your doc about POCS or Metabolic Syndrome? *shrug* It's worth a shot I guess.

To be honest I have never heard of POCS or Metabolic Syndrome. Hmm...TO WIKIPEDIA I SAY! ( and webMD.com )

* whistels at your level * How are you coping with that? And how come no one will help you with your thyroid? I was told mine ( Hashimoto's hypothyroidism ) could potentially kill me if I didn't do something about it.

I think you'd have to neglect your thyroid quite a while before it got life-threatening. Hashimoto's is what my doc told me I had way back when I was diagnosed. I don't think the flashes are thyroid, but I don't have a clue what it might be.

Hubby has started prescription strength Vitamin D and we have no idea why his levels were so low.

I think my NP told me that to put the fear of God into me before it did. When I was first diagnosed she wanted me to wait an additional 6 weeks and two weeks in I nearly fainted from standing in a air condition building. @_@ Scary!

She very quickly put me on the meds.

My doctors can't think of why mine are low, but I thinks because I don't drink a lot of milk and go outside a lot. * shrugs *

As for the hot flashes...Neither do I. I know that they are a symptom of hypothyroidism, but it doesn't say anything if they don't stop or get worse. ( I hope that made sense )

I hate my body... * >.> *

If your thyroid levels are testing normal now, you shouldn't be having hot flashes or other symptoms from the thyroid. I'd say it's more likely to your female hormones fluctuating during your cycle, though I think you checked that out before?

Hmm...Here's a thought. Maybe your thyroid has been off so long that you're finding what should be routine hormone changes to feel extreme. If your thyroid is low enough, you don't ovulate and everything else slows down. Now everything is ticking over at a higher rate than before.

But if it continues, you should still keep after your NP or doctor to try to figure it out. If they haven't already suggested, try tracking the flashes in terms of where you are in your menstrual cycle. Like keeping a notebook or calendar or something. You can at least rule it out that way.

I've never seen a NP, myself. I've always seen doctors.

Well the thing is, I have had hot flashes every day no matter where I am in my cycle. Hell, they started 15 years ago when I turned 13 and started my period.

I never thought much about them really at the time, just something I thought was normal cause my mom said that I really didn't have them cause I was too young to.

But I will keep after him. And you maybe right about my hormones finally acting the way they should be. Its just so frustrating when your walking at a snails pace and all of a sudden your limbs get a little weak and I have a full body hot flash and your socks get slightly damp where they sit on the sole on the inside.

All I know that if in late June early July they haven't gotten any better, I'm going to have him check me out further regarding them. This can't be good to have these constantly. Especially like I have them.
