I want to inject myself full of ink!

I'm thinking about getting a tattoo for my 22nd birthday. I'm hoping this'll be handy for my friends and present-buying, because I really don't want anything other than a tattoo, so instead of buying me something I probably won't use, they can just donate towards the cost of the tat. I've wanted one for a while, but I've only recently come up with ( Read more... )

birthday, friends

I would go with the first one. It's a prettier design, and when you're planning on having something on your body the rest of your life, you're going to want to enjoy looking at it for a long, long time. Though maybe without the triangle?

Yeah, I meant to put without the triangle. The regular symbol for bisexuality is just two triangles, which is insanely boring.
Indy made a good point that having it on my hand may decrease employment opportunities, so having it on my shoulder might be best.

Yeah, that was another reason why I think going with the first one might be better. Advertising your sexuality invites homophobia, unfortunately.

I agree, go with the first one. To be perfectly frank, it doesn't matter if no-one else immediately knows what it's the symbol for. You're the one who has to live with it, so go with what makes you happiest.

I also like wrist as location (partly cause I'm getting one there at some point too). I would say though, maybe make sure it's low enough that sleeves cover it, just in case it becomes necessary from an employment point of view.

You made the same point as Indy did about employment. To be honest, I'm starting to prefer having the tat on my shoulder, and that'll be easier to hide with a shirt.

I agree. Number one without triangle. It's gorgeous.

:) It is very pretty! I think I'd already made my mind up about the design before I even posted! Lol. x

As somebody with several tattoos, I would say to think before you put anything on your wrist. I know it's a popular and pretty place, but do you really want this to be the first thing people notice about you when you give them a hand? I know it probably doesn't matter for friends and such, but if you want to work anywhere it will matter. (Even for me, my most visible tatoo is my lower leg, and because of it I have to wear tights in summer while other employees can have bare legs. Not a big deal obviously, but what if they make you cover yours with tape or sleeves? Every single day? Would you be okay with that ( ... )

Forgive my lurking other comments, but as someone who is also thinking of getting a couple of tattoos done, I really like the idea you put about drawing the tattoo on for a bit. Might try that, actually.

And if it's hard to do yourself ask a friend! There are sharpies that work really well on skin, and if you redo it every couple of days you can 'testdrive' the tatoo however long you want to before going through with it :)

That might be necessary for one of them XD But it's definitely something to think about.

I'm just going to be agreeing with everyone else here but I wanted to say I think that that first one (without the triangle) will make an awesome tattoo and done right would be really pretty.

I agree with all the very sensible comments above also about test-driving it for a while and getting it from a good reccomended place (I know people with tattoos they regret because they went to the cheaper place rather than the reccommended more expensive place) but it appears you have thought that all through! :)

You should definitely post pictures if/when you get it done! :)
