Part 1 - A Valentine Surprise

Harry awoke to find himself in unfamiliar surroundings, and feeling decidedly uneasy. His stomach gave a lurch, and a wave of nausea came over him. As he got up off the bed - where am I? - his head swam, and he had to sit back down. He took a few steadying breaths and tried again, this time holding onto the headboard. Instincts kicked in, and he reached for his wand. Where is it? He started to panic as he searched the room frantically.

As he went to open the door, he found it locked. He went over to the window, but it wouldn't open either. What was going on? Where am I, and how the hell did I get here? Not knowing what he was facing, he didn't want to alert anyone to the fact that he was awake. Not until he could get his head straight anyway.

What's the last thing I remember? The party. Ginny. She had asked me to go somewhere with her. To see something - what was it? Oh, right, a gift for Ron. Draco didn't want me to go. I told him I'd be right back. Then what? Oh my God!

Harry's mind began to clear as the events of the night before came swimming back. He and Ginny had left the party to go see a gift that she had bought for Ron's birthday. It was something big, so they needed to go to it. They had apparated to a warehouse where a motorbike was parked.

"Well?"

"Ginny? You bought THIS for Ron? But how --"

"Do you think he'll like it? I've heard him talk about how cool it must have been for Sirius to ride his, and I wanted to do something special for his 21st birthday. What do you think?"

"I think it's bloody brilliant! He'll love it! But, Ginny, can you afford --"

"Here!" she said, cutting him off and placing a glass of champagne into his hand. "Let's have a toast. To Ron!"

Harry, still dumbfounded by Ginny's generosity towards her brother, lifted his glass in a toast to his best mate, and downed the glass in one gulp. He realized his mistake as he looked into Ginny's eyes, saw her still full glass and sickly smile, and felt an unfamiliar haze take over.

"Harry? Are you okay?"

"What ... what did you do to me?"

"Whatever do you mean, Harry? Here, sit down on the motorbike." He allowed himself to be guided towards the bike, and as he leaned in to steady himself, he felt the all-familiar tug behind his navel, and then nothing. Until now.

The door to the bedroom opened just then, and Ginny was standing there with a tray of food. "Oh, good, you're awake. I presume you're hungry?"

Harry took a step forward, reaching for the tray, to find himself blocked by a shield. "Ginny, what's going on here?"

"I am saving you, Harry," she said in a matter-of-fact tone. "I am saving you from yourself, and that ridiculous farce of a life you are currently living."

"What?" he asked incredulously. "What are you talking about?"

"You don't belong with him." The last word was spoken with such venom that she had practically spit it out. "It's not right."

Suddenly Draco's fears didn't seem so ridiculous to Harry any more. He had known something wasn't right, but Harry hadn't listened. "Ginny, listen to me. I'm with Draco. I love him, and he loves me. Why can't you accept that?"

"Because it's wrong. You love me! I know you do."

"Ginny, be reasonable. What we had was a long time ago, and was short-lived. We both know that. I love you, but as a friend - maybe even like a sister. But I don't love you in that way. How many times do I have to explain this to you? I am gay, Ginny. Gay. I don't like girls in that way."

"But you love ME and I'm a girl. Malfoy is just screwing with your mind. You'll come back around - I'll make sure of that."

"Ginny, I tried. I really tried. I didn't even realize at the time why it didn't feel right with girls. All I know is that I tried to do what everyone expected of me, and that included having a girlfriend. But now I know what I want, and Draco is it."

"No!" She dropped the tray on the ground. "He is manipulating you! All you need is time away, without his influence. Then you'll see. Then you'll realize that it's wrong. We are meant to be together, Harry. And I will help you see that."

"Ginny, what are you saying? Are you planning to keep me here forever?"

"Why yes, Harry, as a matter of fact, I am."

Harry thought he was going to be sick. What the hell am I going to do?

"But don't worry, Harry. It won't be like this for long. You'll realize your mistake now that you are away from that ... that ... freak!"

"He's not a freak, Ginny," he said through gritted teeth. There was a rumbling in the room as Harry's magic reverberated around him. He took deep, calming breaths as he realized what was happening. It wouldn't do for Ginny to notice that.

Fortunately, she didn't seem to. She was too caught up in whatever reality she was living, her eyes glazed over and distant. "He is a freak, and he's turning you into one too. But I won't let that happen. I will save you, Harry. And when you realize what he has done to you, you'll thank me. And then we will be married, and we will live happily ever after." Her smile made him sick.

"He loves me, Ginny," Harry whispered, sounding defeated. "We love each other. Everybody else knows it - even Ron. Everybody accepts it, Ginny. Why can't you?"

"Because, Harry," she said as she turned to walk away. "I'm not like everybody else."
