Today I fit into, and purchased, a size 10 skirt. (It's pretty too; knee-length, blue, with white flowers embroidered around the scallop hem.)

Then I went to the store a little ways down from the store I bought the skirt in, and discovered that a size 14 bathing suit is a tad tight, and a size 16 fits me just fine.

To this I say: The hell?

confusion, clothing, shopping

I know. It fucking sucks. Hate women's clothing manufacturers. Swear that they were all founded by misogynists.

Or at the least, people who have never actually SEEN a real woman.

The shoe manufacturers were founded by sadists, however.

There is no standardization in women's sizes. :P

Sadly true. It makes me want to learn to make my own clothing. There is standardization in patterns, for some insanely sensible reason.

Ayup. My work pants, too, span seven numeric sizes. Whee.

Oh, pants are a whole 'nother story. Even when I can find pants that cover my butt, according to however they're patterned, the waist size I require is often smaller than the size needed to cover my hips. (I like breathing, and so go with the latter.) All of this to say, I'm acquiring a fetching collection of belts.
