You like me, you really like me

Thanks all for the warm welcome to LJ. I'm still stumbling through figuring this whole thing out. I'm sure my journal will take on various incarnations until I find something I'm reasonably happy with. There's scads of stuff I don't know how to do; but maybe in his copious amounts of spare time(tm), The Husband will provide some tech support for ( Read more... )

Welcome!

Is this training implying that you'll be doing nothing _but_ training other servers? Or is it just that when new people are hired, you train them because you know what you're doing? I hope it's not as bad as all that. :)

Thanks!

Oh, no. I'll still be waiting tables like a regular schmo. However, whenever there are new people hired I have the potential to teach the Wednesday and Friday training classes, as well as have them assigned to shadow me like that guy Eric did when you and lfs came out to dinner the last time. The caveat is that I will get paid a higher hourly wage for training and "follows." The down side is that I will possibly lose some of my lunch hours. I'm not -too- concerned because I make more at dinner anyway. :)

*whew!* I'd hate to lose schmo status, myself. *laughs*

Sounds like a good deal. :) I hope the scheduling works out to your benefit.

Ah, yes. But the perk is that instead of wearing a -red- towel on my shoulder as part of my uniform, I'll get to wear a -green- towel on my shoulder. Ooooh, pretty. ;)

So do I. Most of the other developers have told me that they didn't see a dramatic drop in tipped-out earnings after they got "promoted". Since I keep track of every penny I make, I'll have a better idea over the next few weeks.

I'll try not to. I just hate repeating myself. Just ask The Husband and The Kids. :)

It's nice to be able to keep up with you on LJ, since I rarely get on Quartz these days. I think you'll like it here. :)

This is probably a better format than Quartz for me to post my ramblings, anyway. For a while I was good about keeping a paper journal (that was, like, 8 years ago). I tried again around 5-6 years ago, but never really made time for it. One night driving home, I thought, "I should write down some stories from stuff that happens at the restaurant" if for nothing other than posterity. Last night/this morning, I finally started. I'm still learning, but it should be interesting. :)
