A little my-story.

I like to think of myself as non-confrontational.  I don't enjoy heated debates because they always get personal.  I want everyone to feel comfortable around me and to feel respected.  When I find myself in the midst of an internet "discussion," I prefer to bow out as gracefully as I can rather than trying to "win."  Spineless?  Maybe, but web war

I don't blame you for leaving. Sometimes it's just what you have to do for your own health and comfort. That post was something else. I'm surprised so many on LJ were all for ignorance, tbh. I don't think I posted in that post, but I share your opinion. And to come from somewhere like NY is shocking. I mean Texas? Sure, it's almost expected of Texas to do something narrowminded in the field of education, but NY? Weird.

I have a lot of the issues you have over at sf_d. I don't know why I even still bother to stay there. It used to be so funny and entertaining back in the day, now it's just pathetic. It's not even a shadow of its former self, it's just plain not funny and not entertaining and it's populated with loathsome people.

And you know, on edit, I think a lot of this kind of goes back to what I posted on my own journal a couple of days ago. It's all part and parcel of the same attitude.

You're so right. I think those communities foster that type of behavior. It comes to a point where it's no longer about the issues, the discussions or debates; it's a contest to see who can be the most snarky and have the last word.

Thank you for letting me know you share my opinion; I was so frustrated yesterday about this. I'm glad I'm not alone. I've read enough of your posts to know that you are smart but in addition to that, you're also graceful with your words and actions which is something I respect.
