This was covered on Boing Boing, probably hoax.

Although the teacher has confirmed, and the facts seem to mesh. Hard to know on this sort of thing.

After reading your reply I googled it a bit, and found the Boing Boing thread, among others. The jury is definitely still out, sadly. The reporter insists it is true, I could verify the existence of one of the professors quoted, and what he teaches fits the facts. Dartmouth's library doesn't carry the book. And the student proportedly requested the book from a different library.

I *hope* it is a hoax. It is scary if true.
