The kookaburra chick made it through the night, but it was rough. It vomited a few times, but they do regurgitate pellets (like owls) as young as 2 days old, so that may have been similar behaviour but a different consistency due to the food I've given it.

Got in a baby kookaburra! Smallest one I've had thus far, about 2 or 3 days old, featherless, eats like a champ, weight 70 grams. Probably kicked from the nest in an act of attempted siblicide- kookaburra childhood can be tough. Thank Poseidon I got a kilo of chicken mince today- bones & all, perfect for growing carnivorous birdies ( Read more... )
