So I'm introducing my neighbour to Buffy and we started all the way from the very beginning, I hadn't seen the premiere in years! Ramblings on the season in general ( cut for the uninterested )

I started with Season Two (since I actually watched Season One a year or so ago) and one thing that stood out was that there were "hints" about how bitchy Buffy would become, starting with the first episode of Season Two...A lot of people said her behavior in Season Six came out of left-field, but I disagree now. Buffy's method of dealing with Big Issues has always been to retreat and reject.

Interesting that in Episode 2:1, it is Cordelia who shows the most honesty and maturity...Kind of foreshadowing there as well.

I despise the Angel-Buffy dynamic. I swear I liked *Riley* better than Angel!

I always thought her behavior in S6 was very Buffy but the broody/bitchy went on for a looong time and I just lost interest even if it mighta been a realistic time frame.

As for B/A, my mind BOGGLES! I mean it's B/A! I've never met anyone who didn't like them! Riley was quite possibly the dullest character on the face of the planet!

I think it's partly because I always really disliked David Boreanz as Angel - his acting was stiff (his attempt at accents dreadful) and the character was so annoying. I didn't even watch Angel at first because I hated the character. Then I realized I just hated the Buffy/Angel combo. Riley was dull, but he did not diminish Buffy - in ways, he strengthened her. NOt saying I actually liked Riley, but I liked him better than Angel.

See I always interpreted that as if not a personal choice, a happy accident in that it made Angel seem more socially awkward and after 50-80 years of solitude, well I can see that happening. His accents were TERRIBLE and continued to be so right through *L* I don't feel like Angel diminished Buffy in any way though and I'm not sure what you saw to make you think that. Riley was good for Buffy even if he was the dullest knife in the drawer, she wasn't good for him though.

Really you haven't seen the Buffy pilot in years. Then what was the whole goodbye to The WB thing this fall?
