That's kind of crazy. I mean, none of those names are common.

My related issue is that I often think people in public are saying my name. Most of the time, they are saying yes. Or "yes, he..." Or something else that's not even my name, never mind not talking to me! So I ignore them all, and then people actually trying to get my attention have to stand directly in front of me and speak loudly. Oops.

Eight girls out of my class of 31 at High School were called Nichola/Nicola/Nicolla. EIGHT. Currently 2 at my place of work.

And my parents picked it because it was unusual.

I feel your pain I do not have a common name (although more common than yours), and at one point we have 2 Nadines in my five person office, both of whom answered the phone, plus our IT Help person was Nadine and there was a graduate student named Nadine. I guess I finally knew how all those Jennifers felt!

What did not help was my crazy boss insisting one of us went by another name. It was actually the other girl who had to do it, because I had seniority and it would confuse everyone, but it was really hard on her. I probably would have ad an easier time if I went by Sophia, since I am used to it!. We finally just decided to be really careful about always using our last names when we talked to people.

The other crazy thing was that we both had the same middle name too!

I am sorry that my grammar was really poor in that comment!

Although Elizabeth is a common name, I get around the doppelganger problem, mostly, by insisting on being called by all four syllables. Not Beth, ever. The only people who call me Liz are close friends and family, and someone only gets to call me Lizzie if we're sleeping together. And then, too, many of my friends call me Zen, so that helps!

Clearly you just need a nickname for work.
