Love Victor.
There’s a maturity in Chloe and Ollie’s conversation on the terrace that comes with the passage of time. It’s refreshing that once Victor opened Chloe’s eyes to Ollie’s feelings for her, she wants to confront Ollie and wants him to be honest; after all she’s been through for him, she’s long past hiding behind her wall of denial. They’re both hesitant and Ollie’s resigned to being alone, but they’re done being coy.
Love Chloe’s description of her “healthy” relationship with Oliver:
“But he brought something out of her, provided a purpose for her when she was facing a confidence crisis. He gave her reason to fight, even when things seemed dire. Someone to talk to when it felt like her whole world was falling apart ( ... )

I'm not sure I ever read the first part of this one. It felt so off to me (which is perfectly acceptable - it's AU) that Oliver would give her up like that - feeling he wasn't good enough for her. Our Ollie has too much of an ego and is almost a little selfish when it comes to Chloe to not fight for her. But you explained it perfectly to me with this line:
“I was also still pretty messed up,” he said. “As much good the Roulette incident did, I still had doubts.”Set Oliver back a number of months and I totally get it now. I think on the show they got together at just the right time, with Ollie removing his head from his own ass just in time to rescue Chloe from her own downward spiral ( ... )

You may not have. It was a short drabble that I wrote as an AU post-Checkmate. His explanation here is the short version, as I didn't want to go over his thoughts too much again. It's good that you could read this regardless though. I had hoped that was the case.
However, time was key, and because of that, I had a bit of fun messing with S10 canon.
I thought about going with the an act of some sort under the fireworks, but then I remembered that moment in Fortune when Ollie is looking at Chloe while they're laughing at the video. That always left an impression on me... and it got him to act. Take that first step to something great.

Thats what I love most about Chloe & Oliver's relationship: its their first real healthy relationship without secrets/lies and they had nothing to hide from each other. Beautiful fic, thank you. :)
