woman centric stories

I'm considering doing a bigbang podfic challenge focusing on women characters. I'd like to try and do it in the Sentinel fandom, but I'd need stories to look over that really are about Megan, or Carolyn or Naomi, not just using them to interpert Jim and Blair's behavior, or helping them in their relationship ( Read more... )

I'm still working on it, so it's unfinished, but Pandora's Box has a lot of Naomi and Alex. It's a sequel to Ad Libitum, though, and that's all about the boys.

For this challenge, the ladies have to take center stage, not just be major players in the story, and I quickly skimmed through Pandora's Box, and it still seems to me to be Jim and Blair centric. Not that I'm complaining about that, but it won't fit the criteria. I am, however, starting to podfic Green Eyed Hope, now that you've finished writing it. I did the original story in practice form, and then when you decided to add to it, decided to do the revised story.

I'm sorry then, that's the best I can do. I can't even remember reading anything like that, but I'm sure it's out there somewhere.

I've been trying to think of something longer, since I'm assuming a bigbang podfic would require longer stories. You might try Something Told the Wild Geese by Bluewolf. It covers a lot of Naomi's early life although it segues into Blair later ( ... )

I just have to do 15,000 words, and they are fine with it being broken up into five different stories, so short is okay.

I've been looking through the lists, and I had intended to go to TS alllstars anyway. I've got three possibles so far, if the authors give me permission.

The first part of Something Told the Wild Geese would work very well, if the story had ended there. To me, it read like two stories in a series.

I love Oye Come Va, but it's got too much of Jim and Blair in it, and I'd have to think about it pretty hard since the style it's written in might not translate well into podfic.

After the Party is one I've noted that looks like it would do fine, if Escargoat gives me permission and Two Bed and a Coffee Machine, since it's a song fic, would fit both music wise and reading wise for a podfic.

thanks so much for your help.

Fascinating - I've got another story, never posted, that I always felt was two stories cobbled into one, but I never thought that about Something Told the Wild Geese.

It does seem to come to a natural break at

'Feeling for the first time that she was not burdened by any responsibilities or even potential responsibilities, the wild goose flew totally freely.'

before it shifts to Blair's story, and if you wanted to use that first part, I would be perfectly happy for you to do so (and no hard feelings if you don't).

I'm popping in and out in between watching Andromeda DVDs with my husband.
I took a relook at this story, which I think is a great one, and funny as all get out, but I think it's Blair centric, although Rhonda and the Donut girl are co-stars. Thanks for the suggestion.

This is harder than I thought! I guess TS authors don't do much for women. Here's one perhaps ( ... )
