This was wonderful, Laurie. Had me in stitches. Blair really knew how to play Jim right from the start. So many wonderful lines in this The art by Beth is just perfect for the story and I love the manips she did for it. Great job as always, Beth.
I have to admit, I've so been looking forward to this story! 'Roadrunner' is right up there with Daffy and Bugs, and the early Tom and Jerry cartoons as far as I'm concerned. And couldn't I just see Jim as Wil E Coyote, 'Soooper geniussss' complete with Acme Giant Rubber Band - or in this case, perhaps Acme Padded Restraints!? Hee! And as for Blair, well, what more can I say? Beep, beep indeed! Thank you so much for a great laugh, and the very clever artwork also.
I can't even remember now why I connected Jim and Blair to the coyote and road runner, but once the thought was in my head.... Thanks so much for reading the story and commenting, I'm glad that you found it funny. Beth's artwork really captured a moment in the story and explains a lot about their dynamic.
Thanks for the lovely feedback on the artwork. I'm glad you enjoyed the story, I did too :D It was the 'Roadrunner' reference in the mini synopsis that drew me to this one in the first place *grins*.
Laurie, this is such a wonderful story! When I first read it, I thought Jim's misunderstanding of Blair's offers was somewhat contrived. But on second reading...well, Jim's really not thinking with his upstairs brain where Blair's concerned, is he? Fabulous story!
Beth, I love the artwork, too. Blair looks so sweet and innocent!
The way I pictured Jim's first encounter with Blair was that he was drawn to him, but didn't know why,(Yep, hello libido and sentinel/guide type stuff) and that added to the crankiness he was already experiencing, and then he'd had a few beers, and he kept filtering all of the rest of the encounters with Blair through his initial impression of Blair being a player. He didn't get it totally wrong. The coach had a sexual reaction to Blair focusing his spiel on him and Blair was looking at the professor's breasts. It helped to keep Jim thinking of Blair's actions in the worst light.
So, yep, not thinking with the upstairs brain much at all. I'm glad you enjoyed the story. Beth's artwork was terrific.
ETA Oh, never mind the following idiocy. My mind blanked out the fact that I didn't actually post this, so of course I don't get emails about it. I feel I should own up to being a moron, though, so I'm leaving my question
( ... )
Well, I don't think it's a silly question. I disabled comment notifications to myself on these posts because I didn't want to get everyone else's feedback in my email. AFAIK that wouldn't stop someone else clicking the button to track comments, but LJ change things so often it could make a difference. But, yeah, you'd have to actually track the post to get the emails :)
I suspect that Jim is always going to feel a tad off balance and mildy bewildered where Blair's concerned. I'm glad you enjoyed the story and Beth's artwork.
Thanks so much for reading and leaving me a comment,
We can count on him, can't we, for that. I'm glad that you enjoyed the story and Beths' art. the scene she illustrated was kind of perfect for the story.
