Sentinel Big Bang 2017

Hi everyone. Happy New Year.

Our Big Bang is going back to our usual schedule, so signups will open in March with stories due in September ready for posting in November...unless something major happens to change our timetable.

The schedule is up on the big bang website. Over the next couple of weeks I will be reviewing all the rules and guidance

I don't really get why the move to Russian servers is considered a big problem but if you're thinking of moving anywhere, take it to Dreamwidth where at least the word count for entries is better.

The majority of LJ comms are making the move to Dreamwidth. The advantage with that is that it's very easy to crosspost to Live Journal, and if LJ does goes down, you still have everything on Dreamwidth.

I don't see any real reason to move, but if people do want to move I'd agree with Annie and Alynt, Dreamwidth seems the best place to move to. It automatically crossposts to LJ; and if you don't want to crosspost something, all you have to do untick the 'crosspost' box..

I must be missing something but I didn't think LJ would be a major target in any tit-for-tat cyber war that's coming.

Nevertheless, if people are voting with their feet,then that in itself will have a deleterious effect on LJ.

I'd go along with what others have said, and go to Dreamwidth, because of the automatic cross-posting.

The way things are looking, I suspect LJ is on borrowed time; I'll hang in here till the bitter end, but maybe it'd be easier to move over to DW? I'm just thinking if LJ dies mid-way through the BB preparations it could be a right pain to sort everyone out?
