Damsons and Dissertations

Two activities have dominated the last couple of weeks - finishing my dissertation and making an awful lot of damson jam!

I was just thinking last night that you hadn't popped up on LJ for a while, and trying to work out if you would have finished the MA yet!

Yay for plum jam, double yay for the dissertation, and triple yay for Tom!!! Remembering how hard things were a couple of years ago, and how worried you were and how close to despairing, that is wonderful news. So delighted for you and for him.

I hear you about your bountiful harvest. :-) We have raspberry canes and a small grove of sour cherry trees in our backyard. Some years we can't even give the fruit away. (Though the weather was bad this year, the output was small, so we let the birds have the cherries. The little pigs stripped the trees clean.)

Congrats on completing your dissertation! That's a huge step. You're almost there! (I'm curious, was your dissertation limited to 12,000 words? That certainly encourages being concise.)

And many congratulations to Tom! That is brilliant, it truly is. Not bad at all.

Yes, it was a 12,000 limit, which I actually kept to without too much difficulty. It's only an MA, not a PhD.

Thanks very much for your thoughts.
