I know what you mean. I know this is only the internet, but when someone recently de-friended me, I went through a couple of hours of "huh? why? what did I do?" until I talked myself into remembering that it's only LJ, I've never met this particular person, and he'd been altering a few aspects of his life before he took the action that most affected me. People grow in different directions, and we're not all going to be likeable to everyone.

It still hurts though.

Having said that, I don't think I've ever de-friended anyone. At least, no-one who actively participates in their (or my) journal.

I finally had to convince myself that the person who dropped me wasn't all that interesting (to me), so I must not have been to her either. But you can tell your head these things all you want, but your feelings have a hard time listening. *Sigh*

'Twas ever thus.

I'm suprised mildly that they didn't have a section for unfriending people because they post a deluge of tripe. That's my only reason for unfriending people currently.

*Waves a can of menudo at you*

I dare ya! Nyah!

(I kid - I would never do that - stuff smells horrible.)

The tripe is the only thing in there I'd object to. I loves me some garlic, although the peppers might hurt a tad.

Hi, I'd like to add you, if that's okay. :-)

I found your lj through some convoluted path that came by way of the archaeological lj. I just loved your description of the little señorita. I used to dive in southern CA too, off Catalina sometimes, although I live way inland now - in the high desert. On top of that, when I saw that you were reading Neal Stephenson and Sarah Blaffer Hrdy, I had to hurry right over here.

I've got a bunch of kids, not enough work, and a college-age daughter who lives in Huntington. Friend me back if you want to.

Hey thanks! I'm delighted when people add me! Actually the senorita description is from a fish ID book by Milton Love, a professor at UCSB. He's a very funny writer, for a scientist. :)

In any case, welcome to the insanity! And yes, I've added you back. Did you see the quiz?

I'll take the quiz.
