And because I probably forgot to mention it earlier... my hand is much better. Even all the scabs are gone now (I heal fast), though the skin around the area is still really dry from the infection, and I have a lot of scarring, including a big knot right by the joint of my thumb where the worst part of the injury was ( Read more... )

Ack. The doctor should have given you a shot straight away. I know doctors are human and make mistakes, but there's no excuse for not giving you a shot when you'd gone in first time. Its as bad as the time I asked my doctor about getting a blood test and he told me unless I was certain it was going to come back with a STD positive I was wasting their money (if you're curious, feel free to ask....) Money comes before people in the health care profession.

And how are you supposed to be absolutely sure how it'll come back? That's what tests are for.

Yeah, I don't know... they asked when the last time I had a Tetnus shot was, and I couldn't remember (that's how long it had been), so I guess they didn't want to give me one just in case it would overlap too much. At the same time, DUH, how hard would it be pull up my records and check?

Oh well. Not much I can do about it now. ^^;

Ak, I got the impression that my old doctor just pigeon-holed me and figured whatever the reason I was asking for, it had to be my own fault. I'm glad the old fart retired.

Holy crap... I didn't know you could get Tetnus from a cat. I thought it was just like, rusty nails and such. O_o *nervously eyes Tequila who thinks her hands, arms, and legs are a chew toy* o___O;....

*cough* Erm. Well I hope you'll be okay. *hugs* I had a Tetnus shot like... three or four years ago I think. How long do they last, like ten years? I remember when I got it my whole arm was sore for about a week and I had this ginormous bruise. O.o;

You can get Tetnus from anywhere that there's a lot of bacteria, and cats have a massive ammount of it in their mouths. ^^; I don't know about dogs, honestly... and yeah, Tetnus shots last for 7 - 10 years. :)
